if this is our gabe which im assuming it is, he can have quite a few hands here some of which you beat and some you dont. calling down youll probably lose EV, because i think he would give up on the river some of the times he's messing with you (which are not super frequent btw but often enough to be a hindrance).

the thing to figure out would be if he has any sort of read on you which he most likely does. you needed to know what that is in order to not be at his mercy because of his position. for instance if he thinks youre playing on scared money (did you buy in one rack or three?) or good or a lag or what.

Re: 60 120 live comm

is gabe a guy who'd raise some two overs spade hand on the turn like a lot of guys seem to be doing nowadays? or will he mostly show up with hands that beat you here? i'm certainly checkcalling the safe river given that you have a decent showdownable hand and this is the first time you two are tangling.

Turn call is easy. Calling the river if he bets again is the tougher decision, but you should probably call it since the turn was a nice semibluffing card.

imo this is a bad spot to semibluff on the turn in a commerce game

Re: 60 120 live comm

If this is the Gabe I'm thinking of... then he might be raising this turn with any pocket pair (trying to charge your possible AK or other draw), he might have AK himself, looking for a free showdown, and you might be crushed.

I say call turn, Pray river is a baby, check... I think he checks behind.

Im pretty sure that the gabe im talking about is who everybody thinks he is.

I cc river and he shows me Q6s for a busted draw and i scoop. Is that pretty standard, I think his read on me was a young kid just taking stab with scared money which i was not

BTW... i forgot to mention in my previous post that I love the aggressive CC on the river... you gotz him for another 120 by deciding on the turn that your hand was good :-)

There are at least 2 gabes that people might be thinking of and I'm pretty sure one of them is mucking Q6s.

I would be very suprised if this hand was played by our Gabe. I really can't see him isolating a limper with Qxs, getting 3 bombed from the a blind who was playing tight and scared money, then peeling the flop with no pair no draw just to semibluff the turn and barrel off when it was obviously hopeless. I would love it if it was but I have never seen our Gabe play that way.

Re: 60 120 live comm

yeah and then to show it seems very out of character for our gabe. it was probably crazy gabe.

The only Gabe I know is the one who calls a restaurant when Mike L. is wearing shorts and says, "My fat friend is wearing a speedo, can we eat at your establishment?"

THANK YOU, ive been waiting weeks for someone to make a post worth reading in medium stakes.

Re: 60 120 live comm

that's not gabe. so everything people told you in this thread was wrong. it's just some random db. so call down.

Re: 60 120 live comm

Gabe and I are meeting The Dude for lunch. We're waiting in front of the mid-stakes board when The Dude calls me and says he's just exiting the freeway he'll be there in two minutes. I turn to tell Gabe and he's sitting down to play at a new game. "Sit down, Andy," says he. I say, "The Dude is here, he'll be here in two minutes, we can't start this game."

"Sure we can," says Gabe. "If one of us draws the button we can get a bunch of free hands."

"Gabe," says I, "I play with these people virtually every day, I can't start a game and play three hands and leave."

"C'mon," says Gabe, "what's with this nice sh*t?"

So we draw for the button, Gabe draws the ace of spades, he gets the button and I'm in the cut-off. We both fold every hand to our big blind and cash in as The Dude comes in for lunch.

In the restaurant, says I to Gabe, "You happy now?"

"You know how much theoretical money we made?" replies Gabe.

"Good," says I, "you can pay for lunch with that theoretical money."

"Bullsh*t. Only if you have a theoretical lunch," he retorts, having the final word, as is his wont.

Then there was the time he beat my 5-4-2-1 badoogie. I check-called the river (or whatever the last betting round is called). I'm still waiting for him to tell me the odds of that.

Check-call the river and say "Did Jeff Van Vanderen teach you to play that way?"

(Most of you will not get this reference. Those of you who have seen the episode of A&E's "Intervention" should find this pretty funny.)
