if you were the last person on earth

would you declare yourself ruler of the entire world, or just the areas you could feasibly travel to?

what title would you give yourself?

how often would you hold elections?

feel free to add anything else that you may feel would be important

Elections? So I could elect myself every four years?

I think it's more likely you would be a source of food for some new ruling species.

I would not appoint myself ruler. I am not in the position to give myself authority over man, that man includes myself.

I don't want to steal nothing from the first man on earth.

Just kidding, I'd find myself a nice gun and proclaim myself dead in 2 minutes.

The first order of business is to set up a puppet regime to deflect blame away from the clearly incompetent shadow regime which wields the real power.

I already consider myself King of the World, so I don't think being the last person on Earth would change anything really.

If I were the last person on earth I'd start figuring out how to make different kinds of drugs, cause that's about the only way to keep things from sucking big time.

40+ years of canned food, yay! I just hope I can find a generator and enough gasoline to keep the lights on.

I would create AC-land obv. No govt, no rulers no titles, no elections.

Huh? I think you'd get the motivation to learn how to grow your own food eventually.

Re: if you were the last person on earth

Would there be some level of destruction that you'd expect from everyone else being killed? Or are we just assuming the world as we know it would be in tact, but everyone else would be gone?

Cause the latter would be an awesome time.

The first thing I would probably do is smoke a blunt and drink a nice bottle of scotch in the oval office. I'd probably even video tape myself doing this, deliver a speech, and smoke another blunt watching it later.

I would then be de facto King of the World, and my official title wouldn't matter too much to me.

Next I'd probably go to NYC before the food has time to spoil, and explore some of the kitchens of the finest restaurants. I would make myself some nice meals, and dine in luxury.

I'd of course explore all sorts of government buildings and documents I could get my hands on and find out what their secrets were. I'd definitely explore my neighbors' houses too.

Eventually I would probably try to befriend primates. My dog would keep me good company for a little while, but I feel like I'd get some bipedal nostalgia and really dig an upright friend. I could learn to swing from trees, he could learn the alphabet. Good times all around.

I don't think I'd ever screw a monkey, since I know enough biology to know my efforts would be fruitless, but I would probably spend a lot of time in a lab trying to figure out how to bring a baby me to life. I'm guessing this is possible.

After that I would spend a lot of time relaxing, living the life of a latter day nomad. Life would be easy, since I could raid freezers for food for a couple years while I hone my hunting strategy. I'd be so rich (but of course, rapidly lose material wealth, but it wouldn't matter to me).

I'd never be able to leave North America, because I don't know how to fly or ride a boat (and ain't about to die trying). But that's a small price to pay for the awesomeness that would ensue.

Well played, but this brings up a good point. How long before you kill youself.

I mean there's only so many options: Right hand, left hand, warm bagel w/butter, etc. before you simply lose the will to live.

Yeah but that's just a stop-gap measure really.

I mean I'd like to think I'd do ok. I'm a hunter already so I've got that going for me (not that it's that hard to learn to shoot properly and conceal oneself well). I know how to fly a plane, so travel isn't hard.

Still, the solitude would, after the initial period of novelty, likely be one's undoing here. Maybe you're right though, a trip to a sex doll factory (I'm guessing somewhere in CA) would give you a sense of purpose. That sense would likely be the difference between life and dealth as it's a primary need for our minds.
