TO MUCH MONEY

A poker site wired me 10k extra to my checking account. My poker account is empty, can they force me to return the cash?

Wow sweet!
Yes they will surely be contacting you if you dont beat them to it... no way to get around it and keep the money... sry. Hopefully it was an interest bearing account and it takes like 8 weeks for them to sort their crap out.

ethically yes you should give it back

legally -- I doubt they have a leg to stand on if you reside within the UIGEA

An expensive mistake on their part. By keeping the money, you are teaching them a valuable lesson.

Re: TO MUCH MONEY

Not being a thief, I never had any intention of keeping the money. I emailed them tonite and informed them of their mistake. They asked me to wire the money back, which I will do. Upon receipt they are going to credit my account with $1000 plus entry into a 200$ tourney.

Re: TO MUCH MONEY

Leave the money in your account and spend it if nothing happens in a couple of years. Or take it out and spend it. I doubt the poker site can do [censored]. You can just deny deny deny.

Kind of a strange question to ask if you never had any intention of keeping the money. You were just curious? And decided to wait a while before sending it back?

lol

Well you're just lucky it wasn't at BODOG! Someone returned $1.3M that they'd accidentally credited him with and he got a whopping $10 for his honesty...

It was just in his bodog account. They didn't accidently wire him out $1.3m.

Regardless of that. It was ridiculous.

Re: TO MUCH MONEY

I wired the money back to the site last monday. Today my bank called and said it couldn't be completed because they aren't allowed to send money to poker sites. I guess because of the silly law that was passed a year ago. Despite some earlier posts I find it hard to believe they could ever get the money back unless I want to give it up.

Re: TO MUCH MONEY

Maybe im just an ahole, but unless you stand to make more than 10k off of the site in the next month or so i would just keep it. Just tell them what your bank said and that you have no way of getting the $ to them, then cut off contact. Sit on the $ for awhile and see what happens. If they do somehow come after you and you might get into legal trouble then pay them back.

But i really have no idea what im talking about......

You mean poor money management and just plain carelessness on the part of the site?
