The Fountain, Fight Club, and Amelie are the ones I listen to. I don't know if I'd say 'best of all time,' but there ya go.

It really depends on what mood I'm in, but when I'm in a mellow chill mood, I tend to listen to the Garden State soundtrack a lot.

I think there was a similar thread recently.

Anyway it is naturally subjective, but Top Gun is one og my all time nominations, that soundtrack is nailed, the music style was "up" at that time, and it included some of the very best of them.
It might get my vote as being the "best" soundtrack.

Otherwise a lot of good ones were named in the other thread, it should not be that hard to find it

Someone already mentioned the Amelie and Pulp Fiction Soundtracks.

Here are some of the other soundtracks I own:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Huckabees
Magnolia

The above three are soundtracks produced by Jon Brion, and I think they're just fantastic.

Forrest Gump - Just a great mix of songs from the eras represented in the movie.

I don't know if any of these are the best, but they're some of my favorites.

Gladiator is excellent. King Arthur is very good as well. Though I'm a huge Hans Zimmer fan.

Essentially, I think john Williams is a god when it comes to giving a movie the PERFECT feel, creating incredible themes, and manipulating them for different scenes.

I think Blade Runner in terms of original score, but the full score of You Only Live Twice (especially the instrumental version of the theme song, called 'Mountains and Sunsets') is really beautiful too.

for soundtracks made up of songs, probably Pulp Fiction.

I just saw the movie Control, and since the movie was about Ian Curtis of Joy Division the soundtrack is awesome. Of course, lots of Joy Division, with Bowie, Iggy, and the Buzzcocks.

The movie was wonderful as well.
