Australia: yes or no?

I've never been there before -in fact I have never left good old Europe.

But now the question is do I go to a free trip to the Aussie Millions in Australia with my bf....
or
....Do I just do my work experience like everyone else.

Lifetime opportunity but I can't just go away for like 12 days can I?

My boss doesn't really mind but I get a bad feeling..

What do you think I should do?
What would you do?

Umm, go to Australia. How can this be that hard of a decision?

MissChriss 11-12-2007 03:27 PM

Re: Australia: yes or no?

Because I feel bad about not going to work experience (I enjoy doing it, it's what I want to do later)

Re: Australia: yes or no?

in all seriousness, go on the trip. you won't get as many chances to visit different parts of the world as you might think, unless you get very lucky. go for it. your boss will understand. you will not regret going; you'll regret not going for the rest of your life.

Cos I'm working on my future here. I want a good job so I have to deal with the consequences. It's even harder because I enjoy doing the job. Obv if I hated my work placement I'd pretend sick and go anyway. But this is really difficult for me!

It's graphic design and it's going to mess things up because I already had a week off for going to London and I had a week off last week because my boss was on vacation. Also I need some days off to visit my family in Germany next week. So I'm really taking too much time off and I want to keep it as least days as possible really..

Sorry!! I know I won't get much chances to visit lots of country's. However my boss has been very understandable until now and the thing is I don't want to bother him with more and more days off.. I'd like to go to Australia tho. I'm just not sure what to do.

misschriss: unless you're making 50k+ your job probably sucks, aren't you like 17 or 18 or so? srsly... go on the trip. this is a no-contest. if you don't go, you will seriously just hate yourself for it. i know this because i'm the guy that didn't go on the trip.

Re: Australia: yes or no?

Yea I'm still 19, almost 20 tho. It's a very well paid job but like I said, it's just work experience -meaning I'm still in college and need this to work because otherwise I might fail..
And if school finds out I'm not doing my placement they will probably kick me out or I'll have to do the whole thing again in like the summer vacation...

After my first ever real-life two week vacation from a full-time job, I was surprized to discover that no one at work really thought I had been gone that long. Since then, I've striven to take ever longer vacations.

I once took a girlfriend on a trip to California for 12 days. The weather was really nice. I talked her into renting a boat and cruising around in the Pacific for an afternoon. I turned my back to get a beer out of the cooler, and when I turned around, she was gone!!! My theory is she fell of the boat and was eaten by a shark, but the police are still investigating it.

Just steer clear of the killer sting rays and you will fine. Definitely go. You are young. You have plenty of time to work.

Re: Australia: yes or no?

I was attacked by a kangaroo. It didn't do any damage, it just got my clothes dirty because it had dirty feet and it kicked me. I was surprised so I just backed away from it, but from that encounter I'm pretty sure I would win in a fight vs a large kangaroo. They are strong but they don't have the physical capability of doing much damage because of the way they are built. They can bite though if you get your hand near their mouth.

Platonic, haven't you seen kangaroo's box??

I wouldnt be worried about kangaroo's , rather our killer spiders and the 6 deadliest snakes in the world that live here .

You can't seriously still be questioning this. You are young and have an opportunity to see a far and distant land essentially for free.
