(Party 5/10) 2 questionable preflop folds

Villain in both Hands is psykotow (21/17/3.48). He is tight preflop, 3-bets "normal" and I've never seen him making 4-bet bluffs or in general, loose 4-bets. He knows that I'm a loose squeezer / 3 better.

How bad are these folds:

1.)
Party Poker, $5/$10 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker Hand History Converter

MP: $1,957
CO: $1,372.75
Hero (BTN): $1,000
SB: $1,099
BB: $1,684
UTG: $1,239

Pre-Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BTN)
UTG raises to $35, MP calls $35, CO folds, Hero raises to $160, SB raises to $1,099 and is All-In, 4 folds

Results: $400 Pot

2.)
Party Poker, $5/$10 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players

CO: $2,370
Hero (BTN): $1,347
SB: $1,962.75
BB: $350.25
UTG: $190
MP: $1,128

Pre-Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BTN)
UTG folds, MP raises to $35, CO calls $35, Hero raises to $160, 2 folds, MP raises to $1,128 and is All-In, 2 folds

Results: $370 Pot

I just call in #2

I think folding #1 is ok

Yeah, I agree with praetor on hand 2.

What are UTG's stats in hand 1?

#1: all in, easy.
#2: tough. fold it the first time around, but don't give him too much credit..

Re: (Party 5/10) 2 questionable preflop folds

If u call 1st hand i will fold 2nd hand. If u fold 1st hand i will call 2nd hand. If this hands were played in different session i will call both, no need for him to reise so much with AA or KK, the best he can hold is QQ or unpaired cards AQ or smth.

WTF

How aren't these both snap calls?

#1 I'd only fold if UTG is a total nit and you know psyktow won't be squeezing light

#2 is a typical squeeze spot, and you are considering folding AK for 110bb vs a reg? SNAAAAAAP call it all day.

ok, my bad. I'd prob just call pf, i like to polarise my range here. I'd stack off with JJ for sure, TT is tough.

Re: (Party 5/10) 2 questionable preflop folds

hand 2 is a pretty std fold imo.

hand 1 is a little tougher, depends how solid UTG is because that determines if SB would resqueeze light. If UTG is pretty aggro i'd stack with AK here. If not I might fold it esp if I haven't seen SB getting out of line recently.

has anyone in this thread even tried to give him a range?

Re: (Party 5/10) 2 questionable preflop folds

Hand 1 you need 0.39 equity to make the call profitable. Even against the tightest range KK+,AKs, AKo you have 0.37, nearly making the call good and only being a 44$ mistake.
I definitely think you should be calling the first hand, as you can expect to him push some lower pp and bluffs sometimes.

I'd call both but my image is probaly differnt from yours.

Re: (Party 5/10) 2 questionable preflop folds

I pretty much never fold no. 1 vs most regs in my game. Given your description of yourself I really can't believe you folded so close to the top of your range.

I probably fold 2. Also, if you folded 1 I think he generally expects to be looked up lighter here. Of course if you always follow this logic then you'd never call.

Re: (Party 5/10) 2 questionable preflop folds

hand 2 easy fold.

Hand 1 fold but not easy. We are 40% vs TT+, AK. The only way this becomes a call is if he does it with AQ and decent players don't do that.

Folds both.

Re: (Party 5/10) 2 questionable preflop folds

An argument could be made for a fold in hand 2. Hand 1 is easiest call ever. You've got the equity.... AND..... wait for it.... wait for it..... wait for it..... THERE'S MORE TO POKER THAN EQUITY.

Everyone saying insta call hand 2. You realize we squeezed an UTG raiser and got cold 4bet allin.

snap call 1.

2 is a fold

Re: (Party 5/10) 2 questionable preflop folds

Hand one is much closer than people are making it out to be. His range is probably TT+/AK or something, haven't done the math but calling is probably neutral EV. I still call because it's basically a 0 EV spot and calling is good for meta.

Hand 2 is also very borderline. A case could be made for calling and folding, but I'd personally lean towards calling.
