The Art of the Dark Check

Aiman Abbassi limps from early position, Mike White limps behind, Arthur Azen also limps, and Bob Williams raises to 32,000 from the button. Abbassi calls, White folds, and Azen calls.

The three players are about to see the flop when Abbassi checks in the dark. The flop comes down KK10, Azen checks, Williams bets 71,000, Abbassi calls, and Azen gets out of the way.

Before the turn Abbassi checks in the dark again and Williams checks in the dark behind him. The turn is the 5.

The dealer burns and Abbassi checks in the dark yet again. The river is the 4 and Williams checks it down.

Abbassi tables JJ but Williams has a full house with 1010.

i dont know who bob williams but considering this is foxwoods there is a very good chance he thought a king had him beat

Do you have any evidence at all that Aiman Abbassi and Bob Williams know each other besides the fact that they were sitting at the same poker table?

Why does Bob Williams want to help Aiman Abbassi stay in the tournament?

Bad play does not equal collusion.

Any info about stack sizes and bubble? Seems pretty bad not to value bet the river but I don't know if he could call a C/R and a bet might have pot comitted him.

This reminds me of a hand I played in the Fallsview main event.

These two guys were obviously friends and they talked about how they've known each other for years etc.

Anyways Old passive nit raises UTG his friend calls three seats away. Its a HU pot.

Flop is 953
They both insta check
Turn K they both insta check
River A they both insta check

UTG shows KK his friend shows JJ.

ActionJeff, duck and I sort of stare at each other like WTF, and sort of mention it and the guys are like He's the tightest player in the world he's not paying me off. We just sort of drop it at that point because teh guys are terrible and aren't playing many pots with each other and sutff.

OP, it sounds like Williams is just a retard.

However in Eagles' situation I would have a problem.

I saw more checks-in-the-dark on all streets during this tournament (which is the World Poker FINALS, not the World Poker "Open") than I have ever seen in one place before.

Are you talking about in cashgames? Im not sure whether softplaying in cash games when your headsup with a friend is ethical or not, but you cant softplay in a tournament. Maybe its just me but in Eagles situation when both guys are friends its seems like soft playing.
