Huge NCAA Lock

Kentucky -4 @ Vanderbilt

Lock of the year, UK by 17

rush66 11-09-2007 08:16 PM

Re: Huge NCAA Lock

I just put 5 units on Vandy +4 literally seconds before this post. I feel even better now. Perhaps 5 more.

I'd take Vanderbilt as well.

Re: Huge NCAA Lock

I watched both the UK/MSU game and the VAN/UF game. UK was really banged up against MSU and was drained after beating LSU and then losing a close one to UF. Basically they had no legs and the commentators agreed. They have now had two weeks off and play against Vandy who could have lost to UF by 50 easy. They have no offense and wont be able to keep up with Andre Woodson. UK 31-20

jhennis 11-09-2007 08:35 PM

Re: Huge NCAA Lock

Good analysis. Also UK was without their best WR (Keenan Burton) and best RB (Rafael Little). Both have had two weeks off (or in Little's case, over a month), and are ready to go.

Rush,

Regardless of whether OP is a donk, you are on the wrong side here. Kiss those 5 units goodbye.

Edit: Eh well - 4 is a pretty good # if you like Vandy. I have most of my Kentucky at 3. I still think the most likely result is a double digit Kentucky win. They are the healthiest they've been since Week 2.

Re: Huge NCAA Lock

Even so. I try never to be on the same side on a game that has 90% of the public on it, and a road game, I try to be on the opposite side.

J, that may be so. But anyone who uses lock doesnt get much respect around here. I really wasnt taking a shot at you, but the extremely large number of people on this game.

not even a road game, UK will have more fans in Vandy's stadium. We're taking 17,000 the place only holds 35,000

Re: Huge NCAA Lock

I will say that my HUGE lock last year was a road favorite and I had a ton of haterz because of it

IIRC, I put Ohio St -7 @ Iowa as the POTL4Y (pick of the last 4 years) and bet to win 8 units on the game

so, sometimes, a road favorite is the play

Jhennis,

I just find it amusing that almost every donk that comes on here and posts a lock is on a road favorite.

Ummm, good for you for being all fired up for the game and all that school spirit stuff but just because you are super-duper excited for this game doesn't exactly make it a "lock",

Re: Huge NCAA Lock

i think i've had about 8 "lock" type suggestions on here, and i bet my record is 1-7 (0-8). oh, i guess i had the FSU/miami UNDER's, which were so obvious. so maybe 2-7... but i do think that sometimes when you think something's a lock, you're missing some huge piece of the puzzle, as i was (i guess, because some bets missed by miles)...not sure that makes huge sense.

regarding kentucky, yes, i think they're better than vandy. but i wonder about a huge, rest-of-season type letdown after the LSU, florida (And i guess louisville earlier) games.

The result of one game hardly means you are or are not a donk. The fact that you think it is a lock is what makes you a donk.

If UK wins then that still does not mean it was ever a "lock".
Do you see why?

Also, you being a UK fan and being all excited about how good UK is and also being in attendance at this game does not make it a lock either.
In fact, these aspects make it even further away from a lock.
Do you see why?

I think anyone who seriously makes a post about some game being a "lock" I suggest that post be deleted or thread locked and be directed to the low-content forum where I believe you are free to push all your ideas about, "OMGZZ. I'm the BIGGEST fan EVAR!! and I GHER-UHN-TEA 'dey izz gonna' whoop 'em YO!!"

But for the rest of the threads, as amusing as some of these can be, I think we should take a harsh stance on "this team is a LOCK" and other extreme cheerleading or trash-talk about whatever games because really around here we are trying to do something that at least vaguely resembles serious analysis.

When trying to present your record it would be better if you stated you were up X amount of units. Being up $1100 is pretty meaningless. If you are a $50 better then it is amazing. If you are a $5k better then it is [censored].

The juice on my average bet is more then $1100 so as a monetary amount I don't find it impressive. Now if you stated you were +22 units then I would have a context for how your season is going.

I typed out a long response about this. But to shorten it up. Its a basic lie unless you're a mega idiot or use strange accounting.

I guess you could be using Assani's friend.

My average bet is $10k so the juice would be $1000 not $1100 but close enough.

Yeah, this is part of the reason I didn't point this out. Its so absurd. Needless to say I like this less than Assani's dwindling bankroll count.

Re: Huge NCAA Lock

I could reduce my juice but I like settling up on Tuesday rather than dealing with sites. I've been betting on sports since before there was an internet and I don't like change. The extra juice is worth it to just keep things the way they have always been.

henry17 - Have I not seen you on Stars playing somewhere around the 1/2 to 3/6 limits or somewhere in there?
Pretty sure I have and you mentioned in a different thread that you had only seen onlinepro in your 1/2 games.

So you're playing that low in internet-poker and then playing that high in sports-betting....and are paying -110 juice?

Do you have like $500k for your sports-betting bankroll and $1.5k for your poker bankroll?
