Could people who are not me stop moving BBV4L threads here plz?

Unless something's really obviously delete worthy, I would rather we talk about it first befor moving it. Specifically the Passman thread, where I have no desire whatsoever to honor his request to lock it.

Just saw Cit's note on that thread, I understand why, but I'd rather we slow down on this stuff...

the thread was a complete trainwreck of a religious discussion with 300 responses and no sign of slowing down

I agree with dids on paasaman's thread. It's not a typical BBV4L thread, but everyone was behaving themselves and passaman seemed to be okay with. if these guys want to have a philosophical debate then I say let them.

Now the baby eating thread needs to be nuked.

db,

plz to be stopping trolling the mod forum. srsly, there's no requirement to post in every thread.

dids,

the thread was like infinitely long, i didn't have time to read it to see why gild thought it should be trashed, but in general i trust his judgement. i didn't know if/when you wake up, and i don't really see big losses to moving threads here since we can move them back pretty easily.

finally, since i didn't read the thread, i don't know what would cause him to request it be locked, or whatever, and while i'm pretty lenient with people who want their own threads locked, i was entirely going off the request of another mod, not the poster, that it be removed.

Re: Could people who are not me stop moving BBV4L threads here plz?

Gild,

The thread was fine.

As long as it doesn't break the rules, I do not want to delete much in BBV4L. The kind of content I want to reduce is the stupid dick jokes and other stuff that breaks the TOS. Beyond that people can do what they want as long as they play within the rules.

Yeah, it's not typical, but people weren't flaming, nothing was wrong with it beyond the fact that the attention whore that started it didn't like it. The fact that it's SMPish isn't grounds alone to remove it. Moreover, the 3rd page is still full of checkboxes and pictures of Hayden, which seems pretty in the spirit of BBV4L to me.

If you don't like it, don't read it.

Stuff like the baby thread is fine to delete obv.

Mike, can you unlock the thread and move it back?

Re: Could people who are not me stop moving BBV4L threads here plz?

Cit,

I understand totally. It's not that I don't trust Gild's judgement as much as I don't think he and I on the same page, and that's becoming a slight point of frustration.

Re: Could people who are not me stop moving BBV4L threads here plz?

dids,

ok.

sidenote: i think it would be a good idea if dids were given modding powers in the mod forum. (or if there were a "cleanup forum" where all mods were mods.) this would allow dids (or all mods) to move posts somewhere to be "cleaned up", and then moved back. probably it's only really useful for the bbv b4l mods, but who knows, stuff happens elsewhere as well.

k, dids I will try and tone it down in bbv4l and just stick to notifying when I think it is important (although that annoys you too so I'm not really sure what to do if I see something)

I'm not annoyed by your notifies. I find them helpful because I do not open every single thread in BBV4L. I just don't blindly lock stuff when I receive them

yea, my notifies are more like 'hey take a look at this', could be something that needs direct action like profanity filter or baby eating, could be a potential problem poster to tag for future reference. I also usually leave a note in the posters notes if you are wondering why I am notifying.

Dids 11-08-2007 12:39 PM

Re: Could people who are not me stop moving BBV4L threads here plz?

See, I just don't really dig those kinda notifies. I'd rather not distrupt my work day to see a thread that isn't a problem yet.

Every thread in BBV4L is a potential problem in a way. I make it a point to respond to a notification ASAP because nobody needs to see horse porn any longer than they have to. So the non emergencies get annoying. Obviously part of this is just my own problem and nothing of your doing, so I'll try and not spaz out as much myself.

The Passman thing bugged me because I saw his PM, went to look for the thread and found it gone and I really hate when people try for takebacks because they didn't like how a thread turned out.

4_2_it 11-08-2007 12:54 PM

Re: Could people who are not me stop moving BBV4L threads here plz?

So dids and Gild, I am reading that the compromise is that threads that could potentially cause a problem, but are not yet a problem, should not be notified, but profanity, baby eating, etc should be notified as usual. Correct?

Gildwulf 11-08-2007 01:04 PM

Re: Could people who are not me stop moving BBV4L threads here plz?

i dunno

like for example, I notified the ericw thread today as in 'hey, it's ericw trolling again'. I know you aren't going to take action on it because that's your decision on ericw but it's important to flag, imo.

Dids,

Thoughts on this one. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...;gonew=1#UNREAD

My inclination is to delete it upon sight.

I dunno. I still haven't decided on drug stuff.

There's nothing really illegal about that on face value. He could be using it to smoke flavored tabbacy for all you know...

Mat/Mason?

Agreed. I will always be happy and willing to move any thread anywhere, upon request.

Any that I see that a home mod hasn't seen that I think is way OTT, by my own standards, I move here, instead of deleting, for that very reason. (I do not presume to know the acceptable standards in all forums.)

Dids, I've moved the subject thread back, but still locked so you can edit in situ, if you so wish, prior to your unlocking it.

Re: Could people who are not me stop moving BBV4L threads here plz?

We're an international site. Therefore the topic isn't one of a wholly illegal nature and I don't see a problem. Not that I think we should encourage the topic.

It's kinda like online poker from my perspective.

Talking about selling drugs is different. Those posts should definitely not be allowed. To me they are similar to posts related to false ids.

4_2_it 11-08-2007 02:21 PM

Re: Could people who are not me stop moving BBV4L threads here plz?

mat,

Thanks for the clarification. One further question. If someone posts pictures of illegal drugs (say them cutting some lines of coke) do we ignore or delete?

Mat Sklansky 11-08-2007 02:29 PM

Re: Could people who are not me stop moving BBV4L threads here plz?

I think it depends on the source of the picture.

if the picture was published on the internet, i don't care (unless this an nsfw issue). If someone posts peronal pictures of drug activity, they should be deleted. If someone posts a personal picure of themselves in an Amsterdam "coffee shop", that seems ok.
