2+2ers at FTOPS Razz - 11/8 - 9pm eastern

Who's playing the 100K guarantee FTOPS Razz tonight? Who's railing?

So far I see betgo, SGspecial and OnlyPlayRagz(who won the WCOOP Razz event) are listed among the 180 or so players registered when last I checked.

Pros registered so far include Andy Block, Lee Watkinson, Max Pescatori and Michael Craig.

I wish I was playing, too, but I donked right out of my satellite to the satellite. I'm making some popcorn and opening a few screens to watch our 2+2ers tonight. Hey, if anyone else is playing, please let us know.

I can't wait - I'm so sick - I just LOVE RAZZ!!

Don't really consider myself a regular as I only post occasionally but I'll be there.

Prax - sorry for the dogmatic tone in my responses in that post... we are all entitled to play our own game

I'll take half the action of someone who is good at Razz. Anyone interested?

I'm not sure I know what this means? You'll pay half the entry (for half of whatever is won)?

That's exactly what it means. I'll take 1/4 of anyone roggles is willing to back, so any of you microstakes razzmaniacs willing (or able) to put up $80 for 1/4 of your own action?

OIC, but why would they want/need backing?

I wasn't assuming you had me in mind, was just curious about what you meant.

But sure, anyone who wants to back me, I'll take any offers.

My curriculum vitae:
1st place in microstakes 2+2 sng
2nd place in 2+2 tournament (out of 12?)
2nd place in stars $10 double stack a few weeks ago
a few random cashes in the same
2 3rd places in ftops sats (grr)

anyway. My ROI is 200% at the moment over 15 (small stakes, sigh) mtts.

Edit: I do assume I'm dead money in FTOPs though. But damn I'd like to play in it.

Well, depends on how br nitty they are I guess. I play 5/10 with a large roll compared to the standard 300 bet thing (not razz, I suck at razz), but I don't feel comfortable playing a $100 MTT. I don't know how high they play, though.

I didn't say "sorry" to you, but in regard of SGs offer.

I don't think you're dead money in FTOPS. I expect the field to be weak, which is why I want to back someone. I've played one stud8 sat, and the field was worse than the players at $1/2 for sure.

RustyBrooks 11-08-2007 12:52 PM

Re: 2+2ers at FTOPS Razz - 11/8 - 9pm eastern

Yeah, I played 3 $75 satellites and found the play to be far worse in 2 of them than I was accustomed to at 1/2. (Those are the ones I made 3rd in). The 3rd one was pretty decent, at least my table (and it had twice as many people as the ones I played before). I actually only played that many of them because I cashed in the first 2, but didn't get a seat so I kept going.

With a $3k-4k bankroll, I wouldn't play $100 tournaments either... but I'd play one big one a year, if I thought it would draw some soft competition. Even the FTOPs satellites are way out of my bankroll at $75. But I decided I could suck it up and lose up to $75 for a chance at it.

No, Michael Craig is dead money. You would be solidly +EV vs. the field I expect. So if you can put together some more backers, my 25% staking offer stands.

An overlay looks probable. 100k guarantee, only 53,7000 in the pool so far. They need 333 1/3 players to avoid the overlay, but there are only 179 so far. Figure 100 or so will come in at the last minute, I'd guess there will be a 10.8k overlay at a minimum, possibly as big as 30k.

RustyBrooks 11-08-2007 01:41 PM

Re: 2+2ers at FTOPS Razz - 11/8 - 9pm eastern

Yeah I was just speculating on that with a friend.

The biggest overlay I ever personally saw was when Mansion poker had a big series of guaranteed money events and no one showed up. There was a 20k *ADDED* event with a $100 buyin that only managed to rustle up about 50 people. I'm no NLHE specialist (I was grinding limit holdem at the time) but I was like, sure, why not... I think I finished 9th for a pretty nice chunk.

tell me about it. Where were all the backers when I wanted to play the HORSE WSOP event? i think I can afford to satellite in for $75 bucks

Speaking of which I never dropped below the 20BB threshold in my satellite win. I thought that was pretty cool, put a smile on my face. Its nice to run well when playing razz.

RustyBrooks 11-08-2007 02:21 PM

Re: 2+2ers at FTOPS Razz - 11/8 - 9pm eastern

Well, I'm officially going to play. Right now I'm wavering between paying 25% or 50% of the entry. I'm swafjto on full tilt and obviously I'll need more rail support than TT, SG or Sp00n.

My plan is to run really, really well. Mid last-month I had a 1 week period where I hardly ever lost a hand. I was a god among mice. It was awesome. So I'm trying to remember what I had for breakfast that week. Probably nothing, so I'm off to a good start.

there won't be an overlay, too many of us tourney donks think we're +EV in a game no one knows how to play (may or may not be true.)

I'll reg for this later, provided I remember to, heh.

I did OK in past trnys - but - no matter how well anyone is playing or how focused they are - bad cards may ensue and your investment can go south in a heartbeat. Look at where betgo finished in the WCOOP - not a reflection of his ability.

I'd bet on Rusty to get into the money - or myself - who else do we like as "dark horse?"

I was offering to add on to roggles' backing offer, but I misunderstood what he meant. I'd still be willing to give you $80 towards your buy-in in exchange for 25% of your action (winnings), but you'd need to find other backers to buy more of your action as well I think.

Updated:

2+2ers include

betgo
SGspecial
ONlyPlayRagz
iStackBooks(not sure if this is his handle on FT
TT (I assume - tho' his handle needs a Q clearance)
RazzySpoon
swaftjo - (Go Rusty!)
and, probably, if he remembers to register - the lovely and talented...

ADANTHAR!!

Pros playing include:

Andy Block
Huck Seed
Lee Watkinson
Max Pescatori
Michael Craig
Toto Leonidas

Still under 200 registered, but as I recall, the WCOOP was under 200 until very close to start when it went over 1100. I'd expect at least 500 here. I'll be very surprised if there are not at least two 2+2ers at the final table.

the overlay is currently at $22,000, they are still short 111 players with less than 4 hours to go. There was also an overlay in yesterday's NL tourny. How bizarre.

IWEARGOGGLES 11-08-2007 06:30 PM

Re: 2+2ers at FTOPS Razz - 11/8 - 9pm eastern

There is no way there will be a guarantee. As a matter of fact it will probably get well over the amount it needs.

This is far different than a NL tournament that needs 3,750 people to meet the guarantee.
