Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
Decent game last week. Iris, for those of you who have not had the pleasure of meeting her, is a Commerce regular. She's a trust fund pro (I have no idea if she actually has a trust fund, but you get the idea) who sucks at poker and at life. She frequently abuses dealers, sometimes in a racist manner. Other posters here have said she's improved her game, but she still seems like a tilt monkey to me.
10 minutes ago, after losing yet another pot because of these stupid dealers, she asks for a new setup and walks away from the table. She's now back and posts in late position. Folded to Iris who raises her post. I pick up 33 on the button and 3-town that [censored]. Folded back to Iris who calls. Flop: A53r Iris checks, I bet, she check-raises my stupid punk kid ass. I 3-bet her stupid old lady ass, she 4-bets. What's the optimal line from here? |
Re: Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
It seems to me that if you 5-bet the flop she'll just call you down despite the fact that she's on tilt, assuming she has something like AQ or whatever. I would prefer to call her 4-bet and raise the turn, because I can't see her folding her hand heads up with you. If she 3-bets you on the turn, I guess it depends on your read whether you want to 4-bet or just call down.

Raise 12 more times then call down. Do NOT wait for the turn.

gas it. get full value out of her a-k/a-j. don't let a stupid turn card like 4/2 kill the action.

Re: Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
I like a "fake" crying call and a pump on the turn.

Re: Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
changing the tone of the hand from gamble-gamble to "strategic-like" by doing that stop n go stuff is the worst thing you can do against someone who just wants to RAISE RAISE RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAISE THAT [censored] [censored] PRICK... AHHHH!!!!!

I like a "fake" crying call and a pump on the turn. [/ QUOTE ] this is very very dumb. you have the best hand and she ain't folding. you cannot predict when she is gonna stop on that flop. if you KNOW she is gonna call down once you xbet, then you should x-1bet and then pop the turn. but you don't know what that number is, so let her show you and go on that flop until she stops. |
Re: Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
If I'm you, there's no way I can believe I am behind here. She's got an Ace for sure, and perhaps even two pair?
The line here largely depends on your read of her. Is she so tilted out that she'd go this crazy with top pair? Or two pair? Obviously set over set is going to cost you a lot of money here, but doesn't it always? Anyways, if she is really as bad as you say, I'm looking to go to war with your hand. Don't take your foot off the gas unless it becomes really apparent you might be looking at a better set. Typically, I'd call the flop and raise the turn in this spot, but given she is a tilt monkey, it's better to never stop reraising. Tilty LAG types suck that kind of action up like Rush Limbaugh does Oxycontin. |
Re: Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
6 bet the flop then call down.

Re: Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
her hand looks like A5s. she doesn't have aces cuz she would of capped preflop. and puts u on AK so she will keep raising u. I would keep raising till she stops.only hand that she could realistically have that beats u is 5-5. and that is a very rare situation.

Re: Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
Iris, Iris, . . . hmmm. Name sounds familiar, but I just can't place her.
Oh, yeah, now I remember. Once a button on her blouse was inadvertently open, revealing her ample and, might I say exquisitely lovely, bosom, and Sammy the Bull offered her $40 if she'd button it. Yes, she has improved, all the way up to horrible. Her behavior has improved too, all the way up to reprehensible. I'd call the flop 4-bet, call the turn, then raise the river. Then get ready to listen to "I SAID SCRAMBLE THEM, BEAUTY." |
Re: Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
She's going to stop on that flop at 5 bets.

Re: Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
I 5-bet and she called down on a blank turn and river. She had A5 and I kinda felt like I got owned.
I was a little torn at the time because, like most of you, I figured the only way to get her to keep building the pot was to keep pumping the flop. On the other hand, she's not a total idiot, so eventually as I keep raising she should figure out her AK/AQ is no good. On the other other hand, as PBob pointed out, we can't be sure that her exact re-raising stopping point is 4 bets. So, there you go. As soon as I showed my hand, she sneered at me and said "re-raising with pocket threes -- what a genius!" and called the dealer a "beaut". Good times, good times. |
Re: Comm 40: Bottom set vs Iris
Somebody here knew she would only go 5 bets on the flop. She will never go more than 5 bets on the flop with anything ever, no way, no how. She'll just call and if she has the nuts she'll check-raise you on the turn, otherwise she'll just call down.
Call the flop 4-bet, call the turn, and raise the river. Or call the flop 3-bet, raise the turn. Either way you win $240 on the turn and the river, she's calling down 100% of the time; whereas your way you win $40 less. |
