Stevebets outs Grimstarr

I think that patience is the only glaring difference. Aside from that, they are very similar. You want to notice their betting patterns, you want to notice their tendencies, and you want to take advantage. Some people have really clear tendencies in both cash games and tournaments. I’ve had a lot of success against GRIMSTARR on Full Tilt, and the reason is that he has certain patterns that he uses in cash games. If he bets a certain amount — I really shouldn’t be saying this, but I think he’s not going to be playing me anymore, anyway — if he bets a certain amount, and you raise him, he folds. And it’s not even like 80 percent of the time, it’s like 100 percent of the time. He bets X, you raise, he folds. And a lot of players do that without even noticing it. So, that’s another little thing for both sit-and-gos and cash games. It’s just poker, so there are similarities, but with escalating blinds it definitely changes the whole ballgame.

Btw..great job by the interviewer not asking Steve a single GD question about his heads-up matches with Aba.

Maybe hilarious but he is completely right about Grimstarr here.

I always wondered if other HSNL posters just didn't want to say anything or if they were not aware of it.

wish he didn't say that. I'm sure grim would have eventually ran hot at like 3/6 or whatever crap he is playing now and then decided to play him again and lose it all.

Didn't read the article but does Steve actually make money from poker?

His playing habits seem suspiciously like someone with independent wealth.

Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised by how well-spoken stevesbets is. Maybe this article was heavily edited to make steve sound more eloquent (doubtful, given my perception of cardplayer's quality), but he comes across very nicely in this interview.

Edit: Funny that Steve mentions playing too many big pots OOP as a leak...I thought he was somewhat known for playing a lot of 4-bet pots OOP?

haha wtf is this question from the interview

"SPG: Well, a lot of people argue that heads-up poker involves a lot more luck because it can, and often does, hinge on big pots where the best hand wins."

Pretty good interview with Steves. He seems like he's probably a good guy, he just doesn't always act that way way online.

I was surprised because he is so against poker forums/poker training sites but then he publicly exposed a tell like this.

If this were any other player, exposing a tell would be a bad thing. But this is Grimstarr we're talking about, so such actions should be strongly encouraged.

He's made about 450k from sngss, about 300k of that from husngs.

Not sure if he's up or down in HU cash, but he's certainly made money in sngs.

I mean yeah, but Grimstarr reads these forums and now he (or anyone else) is not going to be able to exploit this. Just going to make the games tougher, something Steves is openly against.
