and if u think about it

consider taxes which will take a decent chunk
add the half million minimum he donated to charities
and the house he bought in fresno...wouldnt be surprised if that takes at least half the 8 million

That's true. Lots of pros try to satellite into the WSoP main event, or at least used to, because if you're a really good satellite player then it's +EV to do it that way.

Good for Jerry Yang for not just going totally nuts pokerwise like Jamie Gold.

hellmuth was at the table next to me in one of the $2,650 supers to the WPT championship. Satelliting into 25k buyins, or at least trying, isn't "beneath" a big pro. In fact, the only reason you wouldn't is if it would cut you out of extremely juicy side action.

Actually that weekend I saw Johnny Chan, Todd Brunson, Carlos Mortenson, PH, shannon elizabeth, tony cousineau, kirk morrison and several more that aren't coming to mind just in the satellites I played.

I played in a sat for the WPT and was seated between Dewey Tomko and Young Pham.

Jerry should be doing paid appearances tho, imo.

If you want people to respect your beliefs- or lack thereof, you should show the same respect to others.

Hoyt Corkins, another Christian player, justifies his playing with an interesting point. Because he plays well enough to make $$ over time, he isn't gambling, therefore he doesn't violate Leviticus.

Fwiw, im not joking. Id happily abuse him for being such a retard, as if god has more important stuff to worry about than some poxy card game. He single handedly made the live broadcast unwatchable for me as he took half an hour over every single decision - you guys who only watched the ESPN version have NO idea.
