Is anyone here more of a nit than this?

I have 100 buy-ins for the NL game I regularly play
and
2000 big bets for limit.

That's not so bad. You're at 200nl which is decent money. If it was like 10nl then it's costing you money not moving up.

It is. If you're good enough to pile up 100 buy-ins... you should be eager to leave your comfort zone and go beat up on the next level!

I have 2000bb for limit too. It really depends on if you depend on poker income and how replenishable it is.

Lol.
You play 5/10 limit with 20k bankroll?
That`s criminal.
Me thinks someone doesn`t take poker seriously enough.

Imagine a dude that plays NLHE 0.05-0.10 on weekends and owns his house, some property and 100k in cash.
How big of a poker bankroll would you say he has?
Do you see my point?

If you are a pro who has to pay the bills with your poker money, your approach is not nitty, but reliable (maybe you could lower NL to 50, I don't play limit). If you don't need to pay the bills with it, then you are a nit.

If you're not a professional and you haven't tried higher limits then it's too nitty.

Is that $20,000 (100 BIs OR 2000 bbs) or $40,000 (100BIs AND 2000bbs). Either way pretty nitty but $40,000 would be insane.

if you've build up the 20k with poker it's kind of nitty, unless your playing for a living..

what's your winrate at 200NL?

Re: Is anyone here more of a nit than this?

The problems I have are:

1) In my experiences 2/4 NL and 10/20 LHE seem to be more than twice as hard as 1/2 and 5/10 respectively. So unless the higher games are particularly juicy, I stay low.

2) When I first started playing poker the money meant a whole lot to me and I played overly tight. I've been playing for close to 3 years now and I've desensitized myself to money to a point. I have no problem bluffing off 2 or 3 hundred if I think it's the right play. But that's about my threshold. If the decisions are for more money than that, it affects my thinking and I don't think I always make the best +EV play.

It is my only source of income and I do have bills to pay, although not as many as most.

It's just weird. I remember when I had a 7k bankroll and I'd lose something like 400 and I would feel it. Now I have almost 21k and if I lose 400, I still feel it almost the same. That seems wrong.

Yeah, I've built all from poker. My winrate at 200NL is 5.43bb/100.

I may have you beat, still playing 1/2 with 20+K since I can't seem to beat 2/4 (at least not by much) and higher yet I can beat 1/2 for 6ptbb/100 over 100+k hands.

I have tried to move up every month though, just keep getting frustrated with 10k hands that's breakeven or slightly winning/closing, I move back down to actually win something.

I think there are a lot of people in your situation. NL 100 approaches $80/hr for me and NL200 is slightly more, and I'm content enough to grind it out until I get a real job. Same bankroll situation.

I have a 64K bankroll and I play NL100 for a living.

i made a [censored] of money in 5/10 nl in the last 2 years before neteller went to crap
I was never a great player, but Ive always been displined and had great game selection. I don't lie to myself and think I can beat high stakes games. I still play a little 5/10 when i see a good table but usually play 1/2 or 2/4 even though I'm rolled for 25/50

Definitely nitty if you are talking live play. Multi-tabling online, not so bad.
