I just found out the assault weapons ban expired in 2004. I now feel that an assault rifle will make me happy, and.. uhh, secure.

BBV, what kind of ridiculously unnecessary and excessive rifle should I get?

I've been told that AK's are a lame weapon and you can do much better...

I have fired one, it was ok. Kinda anti-climactic. My friend was talking about something called a falcon I think? Falcons are badass in general, so you should look into that. *nod*

$2k and upwards. Cheaper if you can source ur own ammo. Ud like to have good upper body strength though to carry the weight and ammo pack.

real AKs are well built, durable and accurate as well as powerful. The one draw back is you cant buy one that is fully automatic (at least here). I recommend a powerful handgun like a .357 or a .50 cal revolver.

cant get one in oregon imo. the laws are funny here tho. you can own a semiautomatic rifle, and you can own a 50 round clip, but you cant use them together.

What is a falcon? AKs are very solid weapons, durable, with good punch, but it's not nearly as accurate as an M16/M4. You can get an AK for as low as $350 online, and AR-15s usually for as low as $800.

IMO having a fully auto weapon is completely unnecessary anyways. In order to effectively defend yourself you need to have an idea of where your rounds are going downrange.Spraying a fully auto AK around isnt a good idea in virtually any situation.
The assault weapon ban doesnt apply to "automatic weapons", which is defined as more than one round discharged for each trigger pull according to most laws.

.50 cal handguns are what internet FPS players suggest you buy even though theyre extremely unwieldy and hard to control. Itd be stupid to buy one of those. If youre not experienced with firing assault weapons then dont buy one for home defense because overpenetration can conceivably be a problem. Theyre not ideal for it. Personally, as I have experience with assault rifles I'm very comfortable with using them so Im considering getting an AK or M4 for small game hunting and defense.

Agreed.

A Porsche isn't necessary either, but I get a chubby for one. Semi-automatic seems like a gun that's been castrated. Just listening to Samuel [censored] Jackson.

Doom is like the opposite of real life though. In Doom there is nothing more fun than killing a cyberdemon with a pistol (IDKFA obv, but nothing else). In real life assault rifles are the most ideal weapon pretty much always.

Buy an AR-15. Its a superior gun in almost every category. It will only cost you a few hundred dollars more than an AK. I own both and haven't shot the AK in over 2 years.

You need an M4 if semi, possibly an MP5 if you can go full auto. You'll have to have the ability to get your C3 Permit for full auto though.

AK-47's are incredibly inaccurate, however they're also pretty damned reliable. They do suck though.

As far as things to shoot, the best option has to be, although this takes some skill, propane in gas form in a milk jug. Great show.

Other fun things:

Empty liquor bottles
CPU's you're not using anymore
go buy a car for $50-$100 from a junk yard
Cell phones
Sheets of glass
etc.

You've got to use your own creativity.

mp5s= very expensive, and another point: AKs are "innacurate" when you reach about 200-300m. But for home defense, unless the hallway between his door and bedroom is more than 2 football fields then accuracy takes a backseat to overall utility.
