The Play Chip Challenge

Hello Folks,
I am starting out with 1k play chips on Pstars and when I have 1mill I will sell these chips. When I get the 10$ I am going to start out at .2/.5 Omaha hi/lo and from there gradually work my way up to $5/$10 omaha hi/lo and will set my goal at obtaining 2k
I've gone up to $5/$10 from a $12 dollar stake and at the highest point ended up with $1500, but I think this is far more interesting. Also, at the time I had a place, and now I'm homeless and couchsurfing. So I think this adds much more interesting elements to the game. I know Ferguson was doing something like this with no money, but he is rich and I am poor. I'm posting here more as a documentation to myself and a couple buddies more than anything. My username on stars is the pathofblood
I doubt it will be very interesting the first 4 or 5 days of the challenge though. Ok, GL to all,
H-Train

Recycle them.

You think if they didn't take rake and every person just reloaded 1000 chips that people would still buy them? There would be trillions of play chips out there if thats so.

Does 2+2 have a thread where you can buy play chips (like T$/W$)? Seriously, where do you find people to buy these? Is there a High Limit Play Money Forum?

Re: The Play Chip Challenge

why don't you play freerolls to try to win $. it seems like a more noble way than selling play money chips.

i won a 2589 person freeroll on UB a couple months back and got $10. you could do that.

Nsight7 10-25-2007 05:28 PM

Re: The Play Chip Challenge

Actually, now that I think about it, selling playchips is far more logical than playing freerolls. Seriously, it might be difficult to place top 27 out of 10K players and then turn around and make a score in the $1,000 guaranteed that follows. Typically you lose, and even if you win, you get something like a buck or two and simply lose it. All that work for nothing.

However, play money you have an infinite bankroll and you only have to play like a complete nit. Eventually you hit a million and get some money guaranteed. Then again, once 1 million is hit you could probably make it to like 10 million , or even 100 million, pretty quickly. and that would be like $70 to $100 bucks.

Better still, get like 1 billion playchips, play in the biggest play money games in the world, and earn an awesome $50 a week doing so. Instant balla status!

Anywho, I actually won my bankroll by turning that $2.00 in freeroll money over anyhow, though I still am only at $50+ currently...

Question though, where the hell do you go to sell the playchips?

Re: The Play Chip Challenge

OP post a hand history and I will donate 10k in play chips on stars. You could have 100k on bodog, but neteller does not do play chip transfers any more.

There are several pages where you can buy and sell play money chips, www.bigbadbullets.com for instance pays $10 per million.

And yes, there are indeed "High Stakes Play Money" players out there...

What tickles me is not selling the play money, but the delusion that $10 is going to last more than 5 minutes in a .20/.50 Omaha H/L game.

I think I remember it being mentioned on here that in poorer countries where online poker isn't allowed, selling play chips on ebay or wherever was a frequently used loophole to basically make it for cash, even if the cash amount was really small.

A friend was telling me how his friend was obsessed with his MSN poker rating, and like reviews his hands and stuff while no money is at stake, play chip 'ballas' where $10 is exchanged here and there seems like its just a step up from that.

1) OP is trying to run up a play money bankroll

3) OP thinks other people care about his play money bankroll.

OP, play the 1K freeroll every night at 9:40pm on Bodog. If you are any kind of semidecent player, you can build a decent bankroll doing this.

beaver 11-04-2007 05:52 AM

Re: The Play Chip Challenge

Since the current exchange rate is $10 for $1,000,000 in play chips, what makes the play money all that different from real money? Every $100,000 in play money is $1 in real money. So the play money sit n go's that are $80,000 buy-in are actually like $.80 sit n go's. Believe it or not, if you play well at this level it is still +EV. 99% of the people playing play money play like donkeys and you just have to take advantage. Sure it's starting small, but is there that big a difference between a $80,000 play chip sit n go and a $1 real money sit n go? Not really.

AaronL 11-04-2007 06:29 AM

Re: The Play Chip Challenge

so wait... I can transfer my play money to a friend... reload, rinse and repeat? Once they get to a million we get a sweet $10 to split between the two of us?

Another idea ... I remember reading a thread somewhere that you could buy into the lowest play money sngs on fulltilt and sit out and grind a small profit (well... pretend profit anyhow)... sounds like another slow, but steady hustle...
