quick overpair checkup
just getting back into things online -- this is standard right? villain is 40/5 over 150. my image is tag.
1/2 fr online Preflop: hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. hero raises, 8 folds, BB calls. Re: quick overpair checkup
I probably three town flop...
Maybe raise river diamonds didn't get there. I would probably put him on TPGK |
Re: quick overpair checkup
*G*
I would reraise the flop. I he flopped a set he would prob cap. Two pair would be unlikely with this board. I like betting out more, it ensures money if we are ahead. if he is ahead he will raise BUT if he is not he will just check behind. Given the way played I suppose he bet sensing weakness. river is OK |
Re: quick overpair checkup
babar,
this is fine. although you post in medium now, so i guess you could r/f the river. |
Re: quick overpair checkup
i like it.
i usually 3bet the flop but waiting for the turn to raise is a good option too |
Re: quick overpair checkup
yeah just call riv this is K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] or K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] most of the time

perfect

Re: quick overpair checkup
I like it.
Raising the river seems spewy to me. I like mixing up 3-betting his C/R and raising the turn. Both are fine. What do you do if this opponent takes you to 3-town on the turn? |
Re: quick overpair checkup
Looks good to me. Treying the flop can also be an option but popping the turn is so much more fun.

Re: quick overpair checkup
I like your flop/turn line and play it the same. If the turn is a d or a K I just call down
I would be tempted to raise this river with the intention of folding to a 3-bet. But since villain apparently is a complete idiot I prolly end up calling a 3-bet mitigating the value of a raise. However, I want to stress the importance of raising river donks with medium to good hands when the river is a complete brick. This is K7 or Kx or even 99 more often than a flush IMO |
Re: quick overpair checkup
Hey oink didn't you get arrested today or something
|
Re: quick overpair checkup
I think you could put maybe one more raise in and call a three-bet, but calling is good too.
Since I like to raise the turn most of the time when I have no pair on a board like this, it makes a lot of sense for me to balance that play by slowplaying my aces to the turn also. |

Re: quick overpair checkup
This hand reminds me a little of DD's video in the Deucescracked forum where he raised the river and got shown down two pair to lose...

[/ QUOTE ] No, but he talked about the player liking to donk-call and how players miss value by not raising on the end. He also talked about how he lost the hand and how unfortunate it is not to get rewarded because most of the time that raise is good. A difference that may or may not matter... he was playing 15/30 6-max |
Re: quick overpair checkup
hi guys, i felt like that river donk had to be a flush or some weirdass boat (although that's unlikely) enough of the time so that even raising the river wasn't right. i called and got shown kt of hearts. thanks for the replies.

Re: quick overpair checkup
* grunch *
Flop I 3-bet. Turn can be so scary that it freezes either us or the villain and we don't get the 0.5SB more that we are planning(?) to take with a turn raise. There's plenty of draws that could hit BB's range. Turn is good. Value and protection. River is good. Wouldn't want to call a 3bet. |

Value and protection. [/ QUOTE ] protection has little to do with it. protection suggests we want him to fold. he's not folding anything we want him to. this is 100% value imo |

Gutshots are the only draws that could fold to our raise. However, considering the flop 64/97 aren't in his range just about ever without a FD as well. I don't think that even 64/97 of hearts are likely. You are spot on: it's for value only. Thanks for pointing it out to me. |
