For a newbie, I loved Hellmuth's Razz chapter in Play Poker like the Pros. It gives you a nice grasp of the game right away.

I was playing a $1 trny on PStars yesterday with a guy who was so bad he was beyond terrible. Then he sits out, and comes back, does this a few times, I swear he was reading up on Razz while he was playing.

It was funny because he got a LOT better right away - I don't know where he finished but he had a nice stack when they moved me. Had to admire him.

Here's a site put together by a razz player with a lot of useful links and tips. There are other sources online for basic strategy but I haven't found them to be any better.

Is that really true? Razz has small pots and small edges

Do I think razz is the most profitable game... probably not.
There is alot of luck in razz and often it takes a while for the mathematical expectation to shine through sometimes. A nitwit is more likely to have a winning session on razz than in most games. The beauty of razz is that drawing past points they should in a hand can often be too tempting for the loose gamblers. There is very little 'style' in razz as the plays are very limited.

The "beauty" of razz is that very few people actually understand it, how profitable it can be (on a per table basis) even at very high limits, how low you can keep the variance (i.e. luck), and how many plays you can make that every other player at your table hasn't already read about in 4 different books and a couple of video training sites. This point is proven over and over by posts like this.
