beat: canadian retail prices

goddamn son of a bitch hyachachachacha

at this point:

"1 Canadian dollar = 1.029654 U.S. dollars"

Canadian retailers are refusing to change the prices, it's even pissing the government off.

Lacoste shirt in Ontario at Harry Rosen (ie Men's Wearhouse): $120 CDN + 8% sales tax= $129.60

Same Lacoste shirt at Macy's in Boston: $75 US + 5% sales tax= $78.75

60% off in the states:(

Brag: going to the states in November and I'm going to drop like 3k on a winter wardrobe. Cross-border shopping ftw.

grr canada

seriously so [censored] right now for ballas in Canada

This is a good point...

What pisses me off is the price written on books / magazines. For years, our books say "$4.99 US, $6.99 CAN". When our dollar was sitting at 70 cents, this made sense. But now, we're just getting hosed. And retailers won't even accept US$ to pay for them. They claim it's a more expensive market. (something about 30 Million people vs. 300 Million).

Ah well, at least I can still play on Party...

Are pesos worth anything these days? I figure the Yank dollar should still crush down there. We should all go buy balla houses with our 3k rolls.

Snoman13 10-22-2007 12:08 PM

Re: beat: canadian retail prices

The yank dollar has been decreasing in value, in addition to the CAD increasing, hence parity. It could not of occured just by the Canadian economy getting stronger (which it is), the USD has also gotten weaker.

Re: beat: canadian retail prices

the currency system only exists so that the USD can go down, every country can think they are awesome, and then in the end everyone just wants the USD anyway, just our way of keeping the peasant countries (canada) happy.

This along with the ridiculous prices of cars in Europe is why I'm less pissed off about paying taxes on my poker winnings than I would be otherwise.
