Re: Richard Lee forfeits most of his WSOP winnings!
here's what i read in another article
"Half of the $2.5 million forfeited would go to the San Antonio Police Department while the other stays in the DA’s office for salaries, equipment and other law enforcement purpose". is that even legal , it seems like he got jacked by the prosecutors nd police dept...(also isnt that legal bribery) srsly wtf |
Re: Richard Lee forfeits most of his WSOP winnings!
This is nothing, he's worth 10x that amount. One of Texas largest bookmakers, allegedly.

"I'm glad it's over," Lee said. "Now I need to go win another poker tournament." [/ QUOTE ] seems like he should work on winning his first poker tournament. |

Re: Richard Lee forfeits most of his WSOP winnings!
my favorite part is in the comments where someone mentions that forfeiting 2+ million is a minor setback for a poker player
|
Re: Richard Lee forfeits most of his WSOP winnings!
He tried to say the 2.5 Mil in cash that they found at his house was from the WSOP. Right, cuz that's what you do with 2.5 Mil, just keep it in a shoebox. Obviously this 2.5 mil is to pay out, if needed, some very heavy action.

On paper, it will go down as a guilty plea and a fine or seizure. Fruits of illegal enterprise can be legally seized. That is one of the most common ways of funding DARE programs. |

He said "seems like he should work on winning his first poker tournament". I'll be willing to wager that Lee has won a lot of Poker Tourneys. So my retort to the guy was like wtf you talking about, of course the guy has won tourneys and why are you acting so high and mighty when I'm sure you can't top a $2 million dollar cash. Btw, the "weather" here this morning was very foggy. |

Re: Richard Lee forfeits most of his WSOP winnings!
It's my understanding, from what I read, that he is forfeiting the 2.2 million that was seized in January from the gambling operation. I don't believe any of this is the money that he won from that tournament. If this is true he got off pretty easy, in my opinion.

Re: Richard Lee forfeits most of his WSOP winnings!
Pics of daughters plz

Re: Richard Lee forfeits most of his WSOP winnings!
this is why i take all tourney wins in casino chips or cash immediatly after the event... well this isnt the exact reason why but u just never know..

I'm not saying that I think he deserved more, but just that he could have gotten it a lot worse than profit seizure. |
Re: Richard Lee forfeits most of his WSOP winnings!
Do you guys think that if he had not made the FT of the main event, the feds still raid his house?

I'll be willing to wager that Lee has won a lot of Poker Tourneys. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. Context suggests Lee was referring to his cash as a win and he needs to do it again in another tourney. Don't take it so literal when it's so obvious. And speaking of high and mighty, my apologies that I misspelled a word, please forgive me. |
Re: Richard Lee forfeits most of his WSOP winnings!
That cash in the wsop is a win, but if you literally read what he said he never mentioned wsop, just have to go out and win another tourney.
But we are splitting hairs. Should he have said I'll have to go out and get another 6th place cash at the wsop? Of course not, what he said was completely natural and it was juvenile to mock him for it. So i mocked the guy who said it because wtf are his credentials to mock a wsop final tabler who played very good poker? |

Mocking is done whether it's deserved or not and I didn't see why that one was singled out since it was funny. Oh well, difference of opinion I guess imo. |
Re: Richard Lee forfeits most of his WSOP winnings!
yea this seems like a legal form of bribery to me too, and it seems like he got off easy. hearing about this would not be a deterrent to starting an illegal bookmaking operation at all.
