WSOP on ESPN thread (10/16 - $50K HORSE)

Just because the Main Event is over doesn't mean that ESPN has run out of poker coverage. Tonight starts the first of three weeks of coverage of the $50,000 HORSE event. Tonight's show will start with the field already down to 52 from a field of 148. It'll be interesting to see how many non-holdem hands they'll be showing over the weeks, as they try to explain to the viewers what HORSE is really about. As usual, Gary Wise puts up a preview of tonight's coverage here.

My Dish menu must be wrong, because it says "Players Championship."

Wow. I had no idea this was going to happen. Should be very interesting. Also, in that Gary Wise article, he says the "E" stands for Omaha Hi/Lo. I always thought it was Stud Hi/Lo. Does this ever vary, or is it always Omaha 8?

Pretty sure it's stud h/l. It only makes sense because the 'O' in HORSE stands for omaha h/l.

Yay no more Jerry Yang "Raise... 2.5 million" crap anymore. I'm also curious to see how many hands they show of each type of game.

Me too. I'm more excited to see something different involving mostly proven players than I was to see the final table.

Unfortunately I'll probably have to watch it on YouTube tomorrow due to Game 4 of the ALCS.

Seriously. Wouldn't be surprised if every episode was like that.

Not really...Omaha Hi Limit is a terrible game. Including it would be much more odd.

Isnt Limit Omaha Hi the most high variance game there is?

Geez, Eli Elezra is such a weak player. I saw nothing on PAD that made me think he was a good player. And I see him play split sevens with no kicker with a seven already dead and then bitching about not hitting the case.

EDIT: Good laydown by Wattel with aces up and no low

QFT for both

You call all the way down with ace high, you get good pot odds and the deuce simply should not change the way you think about your hand. If you weren't concerned about it then, why be afraid of it now. Just call and hate yourself if Eli flips over the best hand.

wasn't there another thread about how eli elezra pronounces his first name?

he just said his own name, rhymes with belly.

Ofcourse espn can screw HORSE up too. The first hand of hour two was stud hi lo, then the second hand was stud. So, they either went back in time or skipped all the action from the other levels. Poker on espn blows!

Yeah, they did as good a job as they could, trying to televise O8 and Stud8. And they showed more of those games then I thought they would. We saw a lot less Limit Hold 'em then I would have guessed.

I think those two episodes were interesting, from the point of view of someone unfamiliar with non-HE games. It certainly made me want to fire up PS and play a play money HORSE sit-and-go or two.

yes, QQJJ is not even a good omaha high hand let alone O8 factor in the point that he was calling a raise from the tightest player alive. could of been worst if zeejustin 3bet from sb and then three barrel the flop, turn, and river (standard play). if daniel wanted to play dewey's short stack then he should of 3bet and single him out and hope dewey had a A2-non-K hand, that would justify his QQJJ play better.

also his limping EP w/ QJ9x was total spew. for a minute there i though they were playing PLO, but nope, it was just daniel spewing at O8 and getting lucky.

QQJJ is an excellent omaha high hand. Also not a bad hand in hi/lo but not as good as in high-only.

It was QJT9 (singlesuited), not a very good hand but not total garbage. Raymers limp with 7763ds on the button in that hand is far worse then Negreanus limp, the real spew in that hand. Someone also limped in with AK64 not that good O8 hand which makes Daniels play a little better, he plays O8 with players that play worse than him.
