New name for EDF
 

All,

I've been thinking it's time to give EDF a more general name reflecting what it is - a place w/ semi-moderated starting of new threads and geared largely towards posters who have been around 2+2 for a while.

Something like Experienced Posters Forum, except not retarded sounding like that.

Any ideas?

Mat,

I think it made a lot of sense to have my name associated with the forum when it was an experiment. A lot of longtime 2+2ers and many top high stakes strat posters like the results and have made it their primary OT forum. So, I think the experiment has worked.

Now that the forum has a nice critical mass and has developed a culture, I think it makes more sense to have a name that explains what the forum is to a broader group of users.

I sort of agree. Making it with diablo as opposed to diablo's feels right for me. like it or not, "El Diablo" is part of the forums' foundation.

Say it aloud: Exploring Life with El Diablo.

I'm seriously not being sarcastic here. I may be wrong, but i'm serious. Anybody else have an opinion?

EDF discussion there is not restricted to that of a nature appropriate for a salon type discussion forum. That as you know was the original intent for the Lounge. EDF is much broader in nature than a salon.

and i maintain that my title defines the forum in the way you describe. but ask them.

the people in this forum have all seemingly lost their minds.

I didn't say it was a bad name. I was just making sure I remembered correctly. That happens when you get up there in years. In April I took a job where I am the oldest person on the floor instead of the youngest.

Reading the threads on this subject, it seems that a name change is unnecessary. I kinda like EDF though. Like KFC.

"EDF" sounds like an acronym for a large corporation. I'm surprised you guys settled on that unless you don't want any noobs - indeed, the goal seems to be to cater to established posters, in which case it's a good idea. Dunno guys, I just think that the intrigue about the acronym leading people to click will be outweighed by the ambiguity leading to new posters ignoring it.

I suppose we will find out in coming months. And no, I don't have a better idea. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
