Nit Poll
When you put an unopened can of soda (or pop for you freaks) in the refrigerator, do you put the can in right side up or upside down?
For the challenged, this is right side up : http://www.gearlog.com/images/13706.jpg |
Re: Nit Poll
wtf why would you put it in upside down
|
Re: Nit Poll
i can't possibly imagine what the point of this would be.
|
Re: Nit Poll
I always put my soda right side up, however, I always put my milk and OJ in upside down.

Re: Nit Poll
I rotate those stupid 6x2 12 packs so that the cans aren't sideways. That's nitty. Putting a can in upside down is just bizarre.

Re: Nit Poll

Re: Nit Poll
Alright, so here's the deal...
I always put my cans un upside down. It's something I got from my parents, with what I consider a good reason. Everyone I've ever lived with always thinks I'm crazy and asks why I put them upside down. I just tell them to think about it, hoping someone would understand why. Last night, I took a package of steaks out of the freezer to thaw out. Today, before going food shopping, I put the steaks in the fridge and I was putting my remaining soda in when my current roomie asked me for the first time why I did it. I gave him my standard response, he never came up with a good reason, so I went out food shopping. For some reason, my roomie decided to go into the fridge and turn all my soda cans right side up. When I get home from food shopping, I find that my package of steaks has started to leak and that bloody mess has now gone all over the top of my soda cans. I grab my roomie and ask him what would have happened had he left my cans upside down like they were. He saw the light... I wouldn't have bloody ooze all over the top of my soda cans that took 20 minutes to clean off. Even after cleaning them, they still smell when drinking from them. But apparently, I'm the nit for putting them in upside down. |
Re: Nit Poll
iggy,
This is why all of my canned beverages are in a different fridge then my food. Having beer within arms reach of the couch is huge. |
Re: Nit Poll
Or you could put them on the top shelf or in the door?
Edit: Also put your thawing meat in a plate. Very sanitary to have blood all over the fridge. |

Re: Nit Poll
I can't think of one good reason to put them in upside down. The mere fact that there is a small percent chance of causing your soda to explode in your face as you are forced to rotate it from upside down to rightside up to be able to drink it would be reason enough not to do it. In addition, for those who drink multiple sodas a day this could add up to like a 25 second waste over the course of a year.

Re: Nit Poll
dragonystic,
Nobody understood what he was saying. There isn't any reason for them to be upside down. But steaks mmmmmmm, makes me hungry--I am going to get me a steak now. |
Re: Nit Poll
If you put them in upside down and the steak bleeds on them, the blood goes onto the shelf that they are sitting on and gets the top all bloody because the can is upside down. Bad idea.
|
Re: Nit Poll
If your refrigerator shelves aren't squeaky clean then you're sitting the lip of your can that you'll be putting your mouth to into filth.
|
Re: Nit Poll
Marinate said steaks in said meat-bloodied sodas. Problem solved.

Re: Nit Poll
this is uber dumb
|
Re: Nit Poll
seriously wtf, never ever ever seen cans upside down in my or any of my friend's homes or in any movies or other references.

Re: Nit Poll
Wiping it period, you think that can is clean just because you put it right side up in the fridge?
|
Re: Nit Poll
It'll be clean enough if it was right side up.

Re: Nit Poll
That's the whole reason I would NEVER put a can upside down. The surfaces in the fridge are gross
