$50 -> $5500

As an American player, here's my bonus path -

1. deposit $50 at stars, sign up with pokernews to get a free $25 (pokersourceonline no longer offers Stars bonuses to American players) and grind this up to $600
2. deposit $600 at FTP with a rakeback affiliate and play at FTP until bonus clears
3. Deposit $1100 at Ultimate Bet for the 111% bonus up to $1000 and play at UB until bonus clears
4. Deposit $1000 at Chan Poker (newly opened poker room founded by Johnnie Chan that allows US players and has 100% signup bonus up to $1000) and play until bonus clears
5. Clear $500 Titan Poker bonus
6. Clear $500 Absolute Poker bonus
7. Clear $500 Mansion Poker bonus
8. Clear $1000 Hollywood Poker bonus
9. Clear $750 CD Poker bonus

after all of this I should end up with $5581 and I will then play at whatever site I like playing on best, which will probably be FTP (rakeback, etc.)

thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

This will only take you about 8 years.

I agree
Your concentrating yourself on big bonuses with lousy clearing rates.

suggestions on what I should do differently? are you guys saying I should clear those small $50 bonuses instead? are they even worth it?

Re: $50 -> $5500

First the good news - if PSO really has pulled the Stars offer for US players (I assume you're sure about this), PokerSavvy has a better deal than $25, as did RakeReduction...not sure if they still do. I'd also check out some of the other deals at Savvy.

The bad news - how are you planning on playing at 5, 7, 8, and 9? Titan and CD are iPoker skins, Mansion and Hollywood are OnGame skins - neither network allows US players last I heard.

If you want more suggestions, you might want to share what games/limits you play.

Re: $50 -> $5500

in response to Boba Fett,

I plan on playing at 5, 7, 8, and 9 because they were under US Friendly rooms at pokernews, whether they actually are or not I don't know. however, even if I can't play on those sites they aren't really that important to my plan IMO.

as far as games/limits, I play 6 handed NL, can also play PLO, and as for limits, I play whatever limits fit under 25 BI/limit rule (25 buyins per limit).

I don't understand why some of my bonuses will take very long to clear? it seems like it won't be that bad unless I'm missing something?

Re: $50 -> $5500

If you mean pokernews.com, I fail to see where they suggest those sites take US players. They have a bunch of sites down the right side, none of those sites have a US flag on them. If I click on "US Friendly Rooms", the list that comes up on the left doesn't include those rooms either. I'm afraid you'll find those 4 have to go from your list.

I play FL, so I can't offer any personal insight on the clearance rates. I'd suggest checking out bonuswhores, they have clearance rates for most sites at all different NL levels. Most of their hourly rates are a little high, but it helps compare the rooms.

Yes usually smaller bonuses clear much faster.
I dont know how much u can find these days.
Good bonuses are much tougher to get these days for european players too.

Re: $50 -> $5500

You really should look at clearing as many PSO/Savvy/Regolas deals as you can, before thinking of grinding up to 600. I know it's difficult for US players.

The one piece of advice I'd like to share with everyone.....do your research very thoroughly before embarking on bonus whoring. If I knew then, what I know now, OMFG. That is coming from someone who has turned some free monies at CD,Party and Absolute into a 2K+ roll. I have only had to deposit my own money once and that was so I could start moving cash around.

Edit: Please, send some updates here when you have started to clear those BIG bonuses.

also, i checked pokersavvy and they also no longer offer any US bonuses

Re: $50 -> $5500

That's a bit tough accepting no US players at all, wow. I had my first taste of that with Carbon Poker and Bet Fair knocking me back (I'm an Aussie). Was disappointing because Carbon looked to have some good deals. They do accept U.S players though.

i hope you a good player. clearing bonus at absolute and ub at smaller limits virtually impossible and then some.

chasing bonuses not so hot if you likr me, whatever i clear i lose.........lol.

i dont understand the part where one gets money in pot as favorite. am i supposed to lose a ton doing this?

if im 90% favorite, does it mean i lose 25% the time?

Yes. Poker is all about reading the deck.

Re: $50 -> $5500

I just checked the PSO website, and it certainly looks like they're allowing Americans to sign up for the PokerStars promo.

Many of the bonuses you list are either not available to Americans (the iPoker and OnGame bonuses) or are among the worst on the Internet (pretty sure nobody offers a worse bonus than UltimateBet).

Bobo Fett 10-14-2007 03:02 AM

Re: $50 -> $5500

Yeah, I'm really not sure where Sunny is getting this from. I've never heard of PSO cutting Stars for Americans, nor of Savvy having no offers for Americans.

sunnycalifornia 10-14-2007 04:56 AM

Re: $50 -> $5500

well what I mean by PSO not having any more offers is that their offer for PokerStars is to earn PSO points and then exchange them for gifts like gift cards. if thats what you guys mean? they only offer additional bonuses (bonus on top of signup bonus) for Absolute and UB

as far as bonuswhores, should I just follow all their recommendations based on the limits/type of game/type of bonuses I want?

Re: $50 -> $5500

Some problems with your plan.

A fair number of rooms on your list, you can't play at.

Its also going to take you a lifetime to get to the end of step 3. We are talking 3-4 months assuming your not playing too high of stakes and your not playing more hours then humanly possible.

You also need rakeback at fulltilt and ultimate bet. Make sure you do your research, and if in doubt even PM me and i'll help you out.

Once you get to a 1k roll send me a pm and i'll help you get in the right direction. Assuming your starting with $50 i can almost guarantee you won't get far down that list unfortunately.

Have a nice day.

Re: $50 -> $5500

Well the PSO points you get for Stars is a [censored] bargain lol.

$120 for 250 points. This is what you need to understand. The bonuses you talk about clearing are insanely high (for the most part) in terms of raked hands per dollar. PSO offers basically make good bonuses great and bad bonuses worth doing.

Sigh. That is EXACTLY what we're talking about. It's as good as cash at PSO, because you can get gift certs at poker rooms. Savvy lets you transfer to Moneybookers, but that doens't work for Americans...not sure if they've set up an alternative for you guys yet.

Bonuswhores will give you a good idea where you should be targeting your efforts. They have a grid you can customize that allows you to filter out non-US rooms, and enter your game and stakes. This will rank the sites for you in terms of clearance rates, which allows you to prioritize which ones you should go after first. Then make sure you sign up for each room in the way that maximizes your return...either rakeback or kickbacks if there are any.

Re: $50 -> $5500

Hey guys, this is Mike from PokerSavvy and I just wanted to clear up a few misconceptions being thrown around in this thread...

First of all, PokerSavvy does accept and offer bonuses for players from the United States. We have bonuses for PokerStars, Absolute, UltimateBet, Poker.com/Carbon Poker and Bodog, all of them open to residents of the United States.

While we cannot offer Moneybookers transfers to US players, we do offer virtual and physical Visa gift cards which you can use just like cash and work for depositing on some poker sites. Specifically, I know the Visa cards we ship can be redeemed at Full Tilt.

If you guys have any other questions about PokerSavvy, just let me know!

Re: $50 -> $5500

OP, no offense but it seems like you suck at bonus whoring. Since US people have so few places to choose from, just try to figure out where you can imagine yourself playing and get rake back to them if available and take Savvy/PSO bonuses for the rest.

Mike, great to see Savvy represented here I love your bonuses!

sunnycalifornia 10-14-2007 05:33 PM

Re: $50 -> $5500

yes, i do suck at bonuswhoring, but i'd rather be called stupid than lose the potential of earning a lot of $

the problem I have with bonuswhores.com is that a lot of the sites they recommend for me with my specifications requires me to deposit a large sum of money - for example, 40% on $500, or 25% on $400 and I don't want to deposit that much, and then when I list the max amount of money I want to deposit it only lists two sites - Stars and Poker4Ever, so should I just start at these two sites and work up?

also, I can only sign up with one affiliate for each room, so once I sign up for Stars with PSO I can't sign up for Stars again with Savvy correct?

thanks

Bobo Fett 10-14-2007 05:51 PM

Re: $50 -> $5500

Stars sounds like a good place to start. Yes, you can only sign up through one affiliate.

Fair enough. I think Carbon and Bodog through either PSO or Savvy should be on your list. The should be fairly easy with small deposits. Do check that the minimum limits are within your bankroll.
