\"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
Apparently Blender has released their list of worst songs ever. Frankly I'm surprised by this list. There are a lot of songs you may call "bad" but not worst ever. It also seems, aside from two songs, that they only considered music that occurred before 1980. I'm know there are a lot of songs out there that should have made this list instead of some of these. I could probably think of 50 that could take the place of all of these. I'm not sure how you could put "My Body Is a Wonderland" and not put "Big Yellow Taxi" by Counting Crows or songs by Paris Hilton/Macho Man Randy Savage/The Cha Cha Song/Fergie/Thong Song. What do you think OOT? Is this the end all be all list of horrible songs? What would you put in it's place? Link to full explainations why they chose these songs.
Here's the list: 50. Celine Dion - "My Heart Will Go On" 1998 49. Right Said Fred - "I'm Too Sexy" 1992 48. The Beatles - "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" 1968 47. Bryan Adams - "The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me Is You " 1996 46. New Kids on the Block - "Hanging Tough" 1989 45. Ja Rule Feat. Ashanti - "Mesmerize" 2002 44. Yes, I think the GBH song "Big Women" is a terrible song, and certainly worse than "Shiny Happy People," (which is actually not that bad, all things considered), but who cares? I mean, there are fifty "modern country" songs that are worse than every single song on this list. |
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
50 Worst Hits Ever is more like it. Still needs Eagles' - Get Over It by their criteria.
"We are not fad. We are here to stay." -Rednex, circa 1995 |
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
It's nearly impossible for a list like this to NOT suck. This list does not achieve the impossible.
|
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
this list is completely queer.
we didnt start the fire - rules pumps and a bump - rules Broken wings - rules OMFG the heaRt of rock and roll... wtf, this list should be labled "the top 50 songs that rule, but you dont hear often enough anymore" |
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
Songs on this list that do not suck and are awesome:
[ QUOTE ] 49. Right Said Fred - "I'm Too Sexy" 1992 42. Simon and Garfunkel - "The Sounds of Silence" 1965 26. The Doors - "The End" 1967 23. Corey Hart - "Sunglasses At Night" 1984 20. Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
19. Mr. Mister - "Broken Wings" 1985
wtf I love this song and I love tupac's Broken Wings too! |
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
Master P et al.- Make em say ughhh at 36?
WTF? That songs rules, especially Mystikal's verse. I went to basketball camp one summer and took the train round trip, and for like two weeks all i had was this single. |
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
Make Em Say Ughhh is the song that turned No Limit into mainstream crap. So it was obviously successful. It does not belong on this list.
Sunglasses at night is awesome and that Puff Daddy song is the only thing he's ever done that I liked. This list is stupid. |
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
song they left off: Roxanne

Songs I like on this list:

19. Mr. Mister - "Broken Wings" 1985 wtf I love this song [/ QUOTE ] Why haven't you [censored] said anything in the 50 past threads where I've mentioned Broken Wings? It's consistently put near the top/bottom of lists like this because of lyrics like "the book of love will open up and let us in". The idiots focus almost completely on lyrics. A good number of these songs were on Rolling Stone's Best 500 Songs Ever list. |
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
"The Sound of Silence" wtf?
|
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
jmac - agree. meant to include that song in my post.
|
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
The Beatles - "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da". Ridiculous that it's on the list. One of their most fun songs.
This stuff will get debated ad nauseum, but as far as really terrible hits go, I nominate: Eve6, "Inside Out" - horrible Semisonic, "Closing Time" - an abomination Third Eye Blind, "Jumper" - sucks Daniel Powter, "Bad Day" - what the [censored] is this [censored]? James Blunt, "Beautiful" - might as well cut his dick off Nickelback, "Photograph" - embarrassing |
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"

"The Sound of Silence" wtf? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah. I mean, I can understand the hate for most of the songs on that list, even if I do like some of them. However, The Sound of Silence is awesome, and there's no excuse for it being there. |

Daniel Powter, "Bad Day" - what the [censored] is this [censored]? [/ QUOTE ] Is this the song in the Tuff_Fish ytmnd? I guess it sucks, but after hearing it mixed with "Sonnuvagoddamn bitch, sonuvabitch hachchchchch!" I cannot hate this song at all. |
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
Yeah, some of these songs are good. And didn't VH1 make a list like this like five years ago and put "We Built This City" on the top? Way to need filler for this month's mag, Blender.
Tuq- the one in that list I really agree with is "Closing Time," because Semisonic's previous album was actually really good, and this was a piece of garbage whose success led them to make more pieces of garbage. |

Having 'Sound of Silence' and 'The End' on this list is [censored] retarded. Especially when you consider 'Summer of 69' and that [censored] [censored] Dirty Dancing song that every club plays aren't on there.

Daniel Powter, "Bad Day" - what the [censored] is this [censored]? [/ QUOTE ] QFT this might be the worst song ever. It's one of the few songs that's so bad that I can't even really block it out of my mind if it's playing in the background. It's so bad that I've started going to Chipotle instead of Qdoba even though I like Qdoba's food better b/c it's on Qdoba's playlist and it might be playing and if it is it will (ironically) ruin my day. |

When talking about Billy Ray Cyrus his joke was "For more information on Billy's haircut, consult your local Camaro dealer." That was the best part of the show. This is the exact same list and I thought George Lopez called it "Blender Magazine's list" or whatever. wtf? Why is this coming out again? That's a big mistake; some intern's gonna get fired. Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
Here is the problem I have with this list - I know all these songs.
If it was a list of 50 worst songs, then they would have an extremely short play life, and few of us would have heard of any of them. If anyone had a list of 50 worst books (and truly meant WORST), I am sure none of us would have read or heard of any of them. If anything, this is a list of over-rated and/or corny songs. |

But one song that actually does make me puke just thinking of it is Mr. Blobby. For anyone fortunate enough to not live in the UK and have never heard this, you are truly lucky. In fact there are dozens and dozens of songs in this ilk that are far, far worse than any of the songs on that list of 50. Kids should not be allowed to listen to this type of music. |
Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"
Lists like this are pointless and are meant to be controversial and spark the sort of debate you all are having. A lot of those songs were just overplayed to death but are still quality. A few that I was particularly annoyed with having on the list...
48. The Beatles - "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" 1968 26. The Doors - "The End" 1967 21. Spin Doctors - "Two Princes" 1992 12. The Beach Boys - "Kokomo" 1988 10. Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder - "Ebony and Ivory" 1982 I don't particularly care for these songs per se, but they're good songs regardless. |
