Wow that would be great if the Giants signed both Eck and Andruw Jones, just one year after signing Zito to that horrid contract.

I'm surprised they didn't address signing Romero. I'd rather get him than Lohse signed

The Cubs have pursued Miguel Tejada before and should do so again. Felix Pie, Carlos Marmol and Ronny Cedeno for Tejada and Hayden Penn would be a very high price to pay, but GM Jim Hendry might need to gamble in order to keep his job.

[/ QUOTE ]

I will happily join kyleb on the anti-Cubs bandwagon if this comes true.

What's so great about that team? It's the same horrid pitching staff as this year. If they are going to let Rowand go they better seriously upgrade the bullpen and get a #2 starter.

The bullpen has Jon Rauch in it which would be a giant upgrade, and resigning Kyle Lohse would be big as well. The biggest thing would be adding Mike Lowell, because it would add a good fielding, good hitting right handed bat into the lineup, who has very good pull power, which in Philly would mean many many home runs.

LF Alfonso Soriano
2B Ryan Theriot
1B Derrek Lee
3B Aramis Ramirez
SS Miguel Tejada
CF Jacque Jones/Brady Clark
RF Cliff Floyd/Matt Murton
C Geovany Soto/Jason Kendall

Carlos Zambrano

OK....

Miguel Tejada????

I hope Kendall's contract isn't renewed - Soto is the MAN and should start.

Jones should be gone - Cliff FLoyd is way past any prime he had - Murton should play or be traded.

Tom Gordon??????? Uh... yeah - obviously the author forgot about Carlos Marmol (package is a trade for the aging SS... o boy)

Re: Interesting article - Projected 2008 NL lineups

I don't like the idea of Atlanta dealing Renteria unless receive someone better than Anthony Reyes. I think Rent is worth at least a decent #3 starter. Like who I don't know.

With A.Jones salary gone Atlanta will have the funds to pick up another solid starter if Rent isn't dealt. Maybe do so anyway since you don't know what you're getting our of Hampton.

I loved Glavine when he was in Atlanta but his salary just isn't worth it to me. Unless he'll give Atlanta a discount.

I really like the upside of Anthony Reyes, but I'd rather get someone more proven with a team that has a good chance of contending in the NL next season. I know the Braves offered Renteria for Garland at the trade deadline, but the White Sox turned it down. Sounds like the Braves are high on both Garland and Vazquez, so maybe something can be worked out involving one of them and Renteria + James.

Andruw's salary is gone, but the Braves have so many raises going into effect, his departure isn't going to free up that much payroll.

I read the Braves Scout site a lot and their administrator is pretty plugged into the Braves plans. I'm not big on Glavine coming back, but it sounds extremely likely for a 1 year deal at $6-7 million. He'll eat innings, but give up a lot more home runs in Atlanta than he did in New York.
