Need a book to read

This is probably the absolute worst place to post this, but given this is my home here at 2+2 I'm not about to post this anywhere else. I just finished a book and need a new one to read. It should preferably be a good one. Much love.

Or take one of the books from my reading list:
-To Hell and Back: The Audie Murphy Autobiography
-Cobra II: The inside story of the invasion and occupation of Iraq
-Tactics of the Crescent Moon
-Militant Tactics
-The Last Ridge: The Story of the 10th Mountain Division

Hopefully soon I can add "It Never Snows in September: The German View of Market-Garden"

The New Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract.
It is the best $5 I've ever spent on a book.

If that isn't your cuppa, then the Cussler books mentioned are great casual reading.

Or George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series.

Or... well it depends on taste.

edit: wow Rothko nailed it. It's been so long since I read it that it didn't leap to mind.

Ender's Game is pretty great. Limesparks, could you possibly be more specific? I'm not familiar with any of those names you listed or their best works, but I'm interested. I can do some work on my own, but I need first names at least.

george saunders
he has a couple short story collections that are just phenomenal. lots of sad/absurd magic realism and black humor. he'd probably be my first recommendation for you if you've never read him. pynchon basically came out of hiding to write the blurb for this book so u really cant go wrong

donald antrim
the hundred brothers
jesus christ i wish i could read this book for the first time again. a hundred brothers together in one room for an insane violent family reunion. clever chaotic hilarity.

david markson
wittgensteins mistress
i think i heard about this from a DFW interview, its experimental fiction, short segments of an interior monologue from a woman who may be insane or may be the last person alive on earth. really beautiful and heartbreaking

The whole series is really good. The 3rd and 4th books are a little hard to slog through but the "Shadow" books more than make up for it.
