Oktober der Niedrige Zufriedene Faden(Oct. LC Thread)

Octoberfest and Halloween are the only things i really associate with October(except football, of course).

so here's this month's low content thread. feel free to post whatever here. this is the only place you won't get banned, deleted, etc. for almost anything(within website policy of course).

good luck.

first order of business. do we want a FTP and/or Stars Regulars thread? i don't really care, but i also don't want the forum to reach the point where we have more of these types of posts(LC, Results, Regs, etc.) than strategy posts. we are above all things a strat forum. we could even eliminate the LC if desired. i'm a puppet for you guys so let me know what you think is best and we'll decide.

Keep the low content thread. I don't really think we need the other threads, but I don't understand what the point of them is. Unless they are just site specific low content threads.

not enough posters in ssl play online regularly imo to make a stars/ftp regs thread worthwhile.

I agree with Kit.

And I will take this opportunity to cuss out the Arizona Cardinals and their incredible ability to return re-punts for touchdowns and intercept 4 yard slants in the end zones. Christ that sucked.

oh, that did suck. i get the NFL sunday ticket so i can watch all of the steelers games.

the cardinals played with a grudge. after all, they had two guys spurned by the steelers in their search for the new head coach. russ grimm and ken whisenhunt had an axe to grind with the steelers organization and it was a sentiment echoed by the players as well.

if you are on the road in the NFL and you don't put a team away early, watch out.

Also, fumbling repeatedly in the backfield to turn 2nd and 8s into 3rd and 18s is not typically a winning strategy in football at any level.

I don't have Sunday ticket, but make a weekly pilgrimage to a bar that does.

Last night at Oceans 11 waiting for a 4/8 seat to open up in the main room. I was in the tourney-lower limit room sitting at a low buy in NLHE table passing the time and they had the SD game on. They have one giant tv screen and several smaller flat screens on various walls. The giant screen somehow is about 7-8 seconds time delayed behind the smaller flat screens. There is some play happening almost the whole room is watching some guy score and yelling. Forward to 8 seconds later and one lone large man at our table stands up watching the giant screen and starts yelling "Go baby Go!!!!!!!! Go baby go!!" Hilarious. Everyone is staring at him & chuckling. He didn't catch on at all.

Good times

PS. OF note, he had about 6 chips left total in his stack and opted to just call a $4 bet on the turn.

That is too funny. Hey James and all you Stealers fans, be glad you're not a Bolts fan! Talk about wasted potential. Nobody out here was excited when Norv came to town, but nobody thought he could get a team with this much talent off to a 1-3 start! Fortunately, as a transplant from NE I don't have to suffer with all my So-Cal brethren. Go Pats!

Sports triv sharing.-My older brother used to play in the big band that played at the Rams games when they played at Anaheim stadium. He is also a full time musician

I used to play at some Angels games back in the 80-90's in between innings. Pretty fun seeing diff players before the games down near the workout room where we would meet before we played. Dave Winfield was freakin giant and Brian Downing had arms like Popeye. Nice guys as well. We would also yell Bert Blyleven's name and then hide behind trash cans and he would look for us. He was a prankster so he liked it

I was playing $4/$8 this weekend at commerce. Several callers, a player in MP raised, more callers, I 3-bet with AKs in late position. The player on the button got this really irritated look on his face and proceeded to fold POCKET ACES face up. He then said, "Aces have no chance of winning with this many players and this much action preflop". The funny thing was, half of the other players at the table spent the next 5 minutes talking about how right he was and how that was the smart thing to do. I think some of them were actually serious! Of course the original raiser won the HUGE pot with unimproved pocket QQ.

Yeah, what Kit said. Probably not enough traffic in here. But what about a thread where you anyone may constructively discuss any small stakes online regular player on any site? Winrates at certain sites could go in here too. So it would be a thread for FTP, Stars, Party, UB, etc. I think such discussions could be valuable. Would there be enough traffic for this? Or is my idea dumb in some other way?

Eliminate the LC thread? Nah, I think we need a place where we are allowed to write crud, and good crud sometimes.

People fold AA preflop in cash games? I thought that was like the only inviolable rule....couldn't believe the thread. Is there a situation where AA is a dog pf? Like...3 handed with 2 AA and the other guy holding 78s or something? I can't imagine there is....

It did make me feel better though, driving home I saw a cute little deer on the side of the road grazing for food. I stopped and thought for a minute and realized, yes, this thing needed to die. I drove straight in to it at full speed.

Oh Jeez, it happened!!! Well as some of you know, I met last month's goal of getting a new ring for me wifey subsidized through live play. Met the goal.

Just spoke to wife on her way home from work and we were talking about poker related stuff and she says, "So what is your goal for poker this month, what about breast enhancement?" I replied, "Cool honey, but mine or yours?"

No posts in here for some time, so I'll bring it back up front. Here is a short yet humorous anecdote from the 3/6 table this week:

Some people call and the dealer decides to flop some cards. Some people bet and some call, and another card is turned. More betting ensues, and the river is put down. Final board of:

A 3 Q 2 K rainbow (in that order....king on river)

Then this happens between "Donk" and "Luckbox", taking about 3 minutes because Donk can't even manage his freaking chip stack and the dealer is trying to keep their bets separate and well organized for the impending chop:

LB: Bet
D: Raise
LB: Raise
D: Raise
LB: Raise
D: Raise
LB: Raise
D: We have the same hand. Same hand right? I call.

LB tables JTo. D is noticeably astonished, then confused, then terrified. He looks at the board long and hard. I start to laugh hysterically as the man next to me says "He has 45". D tables 45o. I have to walk away from the table and almost hurt myself laughing.

Both Hyperrrprank and myself by sheer dumbness, threw away hands(by not showing at showdown) that would have won tonight at our table. Mine was a sympathy blunder for him so he would not feel so bad . They were both good sized pots too. Think we both may have been a bit tired. Hyper was more tired though having to hoist those 8 racks to the cage vs my 3!

I'm not sure what's worse... not tabling your hand and losing a pot you should've won, or stupidly folding in a big pot on the river w/ a hand that would have won.

Since I was guilty of number 2 recently, I'm going to say 1 is worse :P

Re: GOD [censored] DAMNIT

+90 BB last night...getting close to moving up to 20/40!

2 highlights:

1 Limper, I raise JJ in MP, tricky, tough player hesitates for a few seconds and then 3 bets, button calls 3 , limper calls 2, I cap, all call. Right now I'm like 90% sure the limpers have mediocre broadway/low PP and the tricky player has 99-TT.

Flop is KcQcx. ugh. Limper checks, I check, it gets checked around.

Turn Qd. limper checks, i bet, tricky guy thinks for 5 seconds and raises, others fold. My read hasnt changed, I still think hes got 99-TT. I think about 3 betting but decide it would be pointless and I might be wrong anyway. Thus I call after some thought.

River As. yay. I check, he tanks for like a minute, then bets, I instacall, he says "your jacks are good" and mucks after I show.

He asks me how I can could call that. I say "cuz I know that you knew what I had." (which really doesnt make a lot of sense b/c thats how value betting is done, ldo. stupid comment by me).

2nd fun hand:

1 limper, I raise red nines, SB calls, limper calls.

Flop is J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

SB bets, limper folds, I raise, SB calls.

Turn 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB checks, I bet, he CR, I 3, he 4, I call, planning to raise a good river.

River is the lol J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] He bets and I fold with a lol. He shows me a K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and says he has AK (nice KJ sir).

it was a fun night!

Beat: I'm down over 3.5K to this guy.

These hands aren't particularly noteworthy, they just happened to both occur today. I might have messed up some of the action or cards, but if anyone reads this they will have a general idea of what's going on.

15/30 LHE 4 handed.

Preflop: Hero is BB with J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
C/O raises, Villain reraises, SB cold-calls, Hero caps.

Flop: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
SB checks, Hero bets, C/O calls, Villain reraises, SB folds, Hero 3-bets, C/O calls, Villain caps, Hero calls, C/O calls.

Turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Hero bets, C/O calls, villain raises, Hero 3-bets, C/O calls, villain caps, Hero calls, C/O calls.

River: T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Hero checks, C/O checks, villain bets, Hero calls, C/O calls.

Villain shows 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I had the other guy beat.

Next hand:

10/20 LHE 4 handed.

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
C/O raises, Hero 3-bets, Villain cold-calls, BB caps, C/O calls, Hero calls, Villain calls.

Flop: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Villain checks, BB bets, C/O calls (all-in), Hero raises, villain cold-calls, BB 3-bets, Hero caps, Villain cold-calls, BB calls.

Turn: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Villain checks, BB bets, Hero raises, Villain cold-calls, BB calls.

River: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Villain bets, C/O folds, Hero calls.

Villain shows 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

So I'm down over 3 thousand dollars to this guy. I won't get even a quarter of it back before he donks it off to someone else. He'll always be up on me. Poker makes me cry blood daily.

Anyway, the real reason for my visit to the SSLHE NC thread was to say I took on JJH3984 in a HU game a little while ago and I recorded some of it on video.

If you enjoy HUHU poker, and are bored and would like to discuss our game with JJH and I, please watch our video and discuss it in this thread. Please criticise the play, I am a beginner keen to get better.

I reckon this screenshot of the first hand is humourous. Better if I had aces though.

Also, that's play money. We're not actually playing 20/40. We were playing for like 50 bucks.

Just wanted to let y'all know that I didn't die in a fiery toaster accident or anything. Working a regular day job again sucks, by the way...it's a good job overall, but this whole having to wake up at a set time for something other than a poker tournament thing blows. As does actually having to drive to work.

My bankroll is pretty much non-existent, although I haven't decided if I'm truly busto or not; technically I never lost my monies, I just had to pull them all out for incidental expenses like food & rent. Well, I still have like $200 on FTP & Stars. Combined.

Today marked 30 consecutive days without playing a hand for me, so of course I commemorated the occasion (I probably spelled both of those words wrong) by playing 400 hands. I figured I'd be rusty, but GB .25/.50 for taking postflop play out of the game. Up 58 BBs for the session; I plan to take my winnings to Denny's.

Anyway, I just missed you guys so I figured I'd drop by & say hello. Oh, guess I have to post a hand or something...gawd, I love people who slowplay teh nutz all the way to the river:

Exact same story here; although, I enjoy my job. I'm really bored with poker nowadays. I can't stay focussed in these micro-limit games; it bores me to death. I have $500 left on stars, and I just play some games occasionally.

So... just saying 'hello' Perhaps in the future I'll play again. So far I'm really enjoying my extended break from poker. I'm getting more work/research done, I'm going out and meeting friends more, I feel less stressed out all the time, and probably most important I don't feel like a constant loser who can't even beat .5/1. I even started working out again.

Live & worse players still equals wanting to shoot yourself in the face sometimes. Last night I played a really juicy 2/4 table, lottsa big pots and horrific players (a couple players would play every hand, another at 80%, another at 70%, some really loose raising; it was beautiful). I considered myself lucky only losing 42 BB in the 4.75 hours I played (winning 3 hands). Variance is fun.
