9/27 NCAA Football

I just took Boise State at -10.5 on the greek, knowing I missed 10 earlier in the week. I am also thinking of taking the over of 50.5, just being that Boise State is a beast at home.

As far as the other game, Memphis and Arkansas State, I don't really know anything about these teams. I will admit I was initially surprised to see Arkansas State a 4 point favorite, but like I said, don't know anything about these teams. Was hoping to hear some opinions I could shadow.

S. Miss is 19-9 ATS on the road in the month of September. Boise St is 0-4 ATS in their 4th game of the season. Boise St is also 2-6 in their last 8 games as a favorite.

I posted a lot of my amateurish thoughts on ARK ST vs. MEM towards the end of the Week 5 Early Lines thread.

I'm a big believer in the general suckitude of MEM and that ARK ST might be a tad undervalued by the public.
I love ARK ST at -4 and am still okay with them at -4.5

In over/under thoughts on either of these games tonight?

YUCK: I missed the boat on Memphis Ark State...it's up to 5.5...Any value on this bet at all for taking Ark State anymore?

MicroBob 09-27-2007 05:16 PM

Re: 9/27 NCAA Football

not exactly a gigantic difference between 4.5 vs. 5.5.

Not like it's incredibly likely they win by exactly 5 obviously. I don't know the exact math but if it's decent at 4.5 I have to think it's still not terrible at 5.5.
Obviously once it gets to 6 that's an entirely different story.

Pretty much just freeloading everyone's advice and thought here. Unfortunately I'm still on Bodog so I don't have the chance to line shop in case you were wondering why I took huge vig on some of these...

Ark St. -4 -110 2u
Alabama +3 -125 1u
Oregon -5 -110 2u
NDame +22.5 -125 2u
San Diego St. +14 -110 1u
Colorado St. +10.5 -110 1u
Michigan State +7.5 -110 1u
South Florida +7 -110 1u

Not sure if these are respectable books or not but JustBet and BetGuardian still have Ark State -3.5 -110.

Re: 9/27 NCAA Football

Oklahoma -22, 3.3u
Clemson -3, 2.1u (Greek)
Alabama +2 1/2, 2.2u
Duke +24, 2.1u (Bodog comes through with low vig for a change.)

Also, I can't place this bet as I'm a Duck fan, but I like Cal straight up at +205. I think it's a better deal than betting the spread, even at +6, as Oregon has had only two losses of 8 points or less since November of 2004.

"yes...this line might even top the doubling up 7 times idea"

link please????

Also, I'm waiting for stats on how USM performs in stadiums that have 3 lights-towers across the main grandstand instead of 4.
i believe USM has a tendency to perform better on fields that are slightly lighter green than darker green. Since BSU's field is blue I would assume this trend would remain constant....but it could depend on the percentage of USM players, coaches and alums that are partly or completely color-blind.
Also may depend on the percentage of USM players who could successfully identify Idaho on a map vs. the number of BSU players who can successfully identify Mississippi.

Idaho's panhandle gives it away, unlike Mississippi, which pretty much looks like Arkansas, Louisiana, Georgia and Alabama to the geographically challenged.

As far as the doubling seven times up idea: Witness a wonderful thread.

I'll take the -5.5 then. I guess you are right bob about 4.5 to 5.5, those aren't likely football numbers. Here's to Alabama State winning 25-20, lol

Plays tonight then Boise State -10.5 and Ark State -5.5

YTD
NFL 1-1 (+.3)
NCAA 0-0

Boise St. -4 + Boise Over 43.5 Teaser at 1.1 to win 1 unit
Boise St. -10 1.11 Unit to win 1 unit
Ark St. -3.5 1.15 units to win 1 unit
Ark St. -5.5 2.1 units to win 2 units

Hate playing both public teams tonight but I don't see any reason to like the away dogs + points tonight.

Obviously that is what makes the stat so critical.
If you still have more BSU players able to identify Miss than vice-versa even though Idaho is easier to find on the map then that makes it pretty obvious who is going to win the game and that you should bet the ML.

I doubt it. It's the make-up of a game that got PPD due to t-storms a couple weeks ago so this would be some last-minute coverage if somebody wanted to do it.
If it's on anywhere I sure don't know about it.

Probably live-radio feed via yahoo or something if you're desperate.

Can't believe this line moved all the way to 6. I could swear it was off when I first saw it at 4 but I'm so used to seeing lines go the other way on me that I'm kind of happy that I apparently got on the 'good' side of this line.

I also decided to take BSU at -10.
Not really sold on them...and I also think USM is decent but it's such a long trip into a hostile environment that should be more hostile on a Thurs nite.
Like BSU's chances at 10.

2nd and goal for Arky St. They can't get the ball into the damn endzone. Need to cut that lead down now.

Another damn FG. They had 1st and G on the 4 and couldn't score a TD. Damn

Jeez, time to start fading Dr. Bob it looks like. He's the freaking kiss of death.

Kudos to MEM for getting their act together and playing better after their horrid loss at UCF.

Down 31-6 at half...now ARK ST leads 35-31.
