Micro stakes winrates

Hi guys,

I'm trying to start someone out playing micros online at Stars. I don't play these limits at all and haven't observed them much, and was wondering what the best of the micro players do in bb/100 long term - full ring .01/.02 specifically.

PLease specify if you're talking ptbb also.

Why not start them at 6max?

Re: Micro stakes winrates

Is there any such thing as a really good long-term $2NL player? I'm thinking anybody even decently good is going to crush the bejeezus out of $2NL and move up to more financially lucrative games rather quickly.

Besides, I'm guessing that you can't really learn to play the game at $2NL. Under $10NL the games pretty much run as a play-money game, and the skills you learn might be highly skewed and ineffective in games of $10NL or higher. Especially at $25NL, the game starts to settle down into "poker."

Just things to consider....

I play 2 NL alot when I am drinking and messing around in class etc. I have played 13k hands and my win rate is 19 BB/100. NL 10 and NL 25 my win rate is about 8 BB/100..

I play nl25 at FT.

I started at stars a month+ ago with donations for my card/table mod's from other generous players. I usually play at stars after my FT session, or if I am running bad at FT. I havent been playin nearly enough hands, at either site, but here are my Stars Micro Stats since starting.

Playing like a nit CAN be profitable.

Following disastrous BRM I'm grinding up from a roll of $3.29, found by accident when I re-downloaded Party. I'm playing 2c/4c with a win rate of 30ptBB/100 over 8k hands. Now moved to 5c/10c but no significant figures yet. My stats for the 2c/4c (full ring):

VPIP 19%
Pfr 10%
AF PF 1
AF Flop 2.6
AF Turn 1.9
AF River 2.2
Won at Showdown 60% (went to sd 5.76%)
Att to Steal 23.7%
Folded BB to steal 66.7%
c-bet 49%

From which you can gather that, apart from when BB, I played passive pre-flop, aggressively on flop, checked behind a lot on the turn and value bet the river hugely. As Pokey says, it's not going to work at higher levels, but at the lowest limits, it's truly easy to pwn timid players.

Re: Micro stakes winrates

I think fozzy stats are about 4ptbb/100.

I would say at 2nl you should be able to have 20+ptbb, at 10nl a good player can get the same, an average player would be around 10ptbb. ~t 25nl I would think that a 10ptbb winrate is easily done.

Re: Micro stakes winrates

I started $2NL because only banked $40 to start (Stars). I'm up to $100 after 13K hands and slowly working in $5NL. I have played $10NL and some $25NL and don't find a difference in difficulty- just have to have a large enough bankroll to support the variance.

Over last month I'm around 20PTBB for $2NL (up from about 8-10 first month). It's easy and getting boring- but builds BR.

Re: Micro stakes winrates

agreed.

I dont run THAT good playin THAT way at nl25.

I have been playing with a 10-15 buy-in Bankroll at stars, because its my secondary site. I agree that a proper BR is key. I completely broke proper BR management at stars.

Started with 10$ - 4-tablin NL2. Got up to ~$25, and started 4-tablin nl5. Shortly after I was given another $40 to my stars acct. Started NL10 when I had about 13 buy-ins.

Will prolly take nl25 shots when I get over $300 for +12 Buy-ins.

I play with 30++ Buy-ins at FT.

This whole post is based on poor assumptions and small sample sizes.

Not many people have large samples, because as said - NL$2 sucks, you win a cheese burger after a day or playing etc. Everyones goal is to move up, so they do.

Maybe some 90 year old granny with have 200 000 sample size, but its prob like -2PTBB/100.

Just play your best, winrates exsist just so those who run hot can make cash coaching

BTW if you buyin with five and overbet you can double your winrate pretty easily, I never did it though cause I only had 36 to go with. I'm at NL10 now.

Re: Micro stakes winrates

From my PT:

.02NL- 1300 hands, 55bb/100
.05NL- 3800 hands, 17bb/100

Only thing this post would prove is that if the person has any inkling of what they're doing, they won't be there for long enough to get a decent sample, so it really doesn't matter. Playing 50k hands of 2nl sounds like pure hell. I didn't even bother using 20 buy ins. I just moved up when I got 10 buy ins.

Edit: I was a proven winner at higher limits before this though, so that's why I ignored BR "requirements."

Re: Micro stakes winrates

omfg how did you not commit suicide playing that many hands at 2nl?

Re: Micro stakes winrates

im doing great at NL 1-2c but im beginning to see that the skills you get from those stakes are counter productive at NL 10.....although you do learn some basic starter hands and how to manage your BR...cuz the shadow of going upstakes is so gripping sometimes when your making a dollar an hour :P

Re: Micro stakes winrates

It's all good. I been at NL10 all month and even though I tilted like 3PTBB off over 22k hands I can still move up to NL25 but I think I going to play out another 8k hands first. Make it a nice 30k at NL10.

Re: Micro stakes winrates

I played about 5k hands of that (1c/2c on stars) when i was just starting out and much worse than I am now, ran about 25 ptbb 100.
