Ronaldinho to Chelsea
Just saw it scrolling across the bottom of ESPN. They just have to agree on a transfer fee and it's good to go. So much for Henry and him playing together.

Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
Nope, ESPN must have some terrible sources
|
Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
That rumor's been around for the past month - it started the day before the summer transfer period. ESPN is probably just parroting a British tabloid (the Sun):
Sun tabloid article Chelsea gets linked to every top player - but unless the Blues want to pony up the 70 million pounds (what I believe Ronaldinho's release fee is), this is highly unlikely. |
Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
If it happens it's definitely not a suprise here http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...ue#Post12197428
but eventhough I think he has been a rather poor player for some time now it COULD still be a good move for Chelsea as well (I have no doubt it's a GREAT move for Barca where by now he is only holding them back) considering they have endless of money anyway. Under Mourinho, Ronaldinho just wouldn't fit in but IF and, that's a big if, a change of scenery can inspire him so to speak to a more professional attitude and the fitness that would come with it. The talent is still there obviously. He could be the missing link that Chelsea needs to play the type of football Abramovich so badly wants to see. That of course requires an attacking organization that only few coaches are capeable of or let alone dare to experiment with. Barca more than any other team perhaps has that of course and a subpar Ronaldinho still couldn't function. The best manager for Chelsea I feel would be someone like Victor Fernandez. |

Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
Mourinho did a phenomenal job despite the misassembled squad he was given. To think he wouldn't have properly used Ronaldinho is pretty silly imo.
Chelsea's screwed. Abranovich has Jerry Jones syndrome and will pay the price. Grant is an embarassment as a Premiership gaffer...but he's temporary anyway until Hiddink takes the reins (deal and Russia exit strategy already in place according to sources). |
Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
its not like its gonna happen for a while anyway
transfer window isnt til the end of Dec |

Mourinho did a phenomenal job despite the misassembled [/ QUOTE ] Seriously. Roman has his way, Chelsea would play a 1-9-1 with Chech in goal, Sheva upfront and 9 attacking central midfielders. The Gallas for Cole exchange is going to go down as fairly disastrous, FWIW... |
Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
He would have properly used Ronaldinho of course.
By benching him! Ronaldinho would be exactly the kind of player Mourinho wouldn't want in his system where he would more than anything be a liability. Obviously if it was the world player of a couple of years ago, I'm sure you could find space for him somehow but the recent lazy underperforming unfit doing more harm than good shelf of a player, he would strongly resist getting to the club. And I'm sure whether buying a player like Ronaldinho or not, has been one of the reasons for the various fall outs with Abramovich. |
Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
not gonna happen i think , standard tabloid [censored] stirring me thinks

Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
No doubt. Mourinho wanted to assemble a winner, Abramovich wants to assemble a fantasy football team with his favorite players (the Sheva disaster) and "stars" (Ballack et al).
Blech. The Chelsea experiment was only interesting when they had an elite coach leading the mishmash. Now that they'll put a puppet in there, it becomes a whole lot less interesting. (Does anyone think the inept Sheva doesn't get a ton of starts? Against ManU, they were playing 10-on-11 even before Mikel got an early shower.) |
Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
Also, I really think misassembled squad is a misunderstanding.
In the beginning Mourinho got exactly the players that he wanted and that he knew he could win titles with. Drogba, Essien and Carvalho are great examples. edit: agree with your last post and that Sheva though I think people are too hard on him, is certainly an example of the opposite. |

[/ QUOTE ] An honest question is WTF happened to these two? My best approximation is that Sheva never really recovered from his knee injury (and Drogba seemed to suck up all the "poachers" goals last year) and that Ballack suffered for the same reason Stevie Gerrard struggles for England: As good as he is, Lampard is incapable of sharing central midfield. |
Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
Sheva was well-suited to a slower, more technical game in Italy...the Premiership is more frantic and his lack of pace becomes a major problem imo.
Ballack's had injury problems for most of his time in Chelsea...but beyond that, I agree with you. To be effective, he really does need to be the focal point of the team in midfield...when he's not, he's just not that useful (and this is coming from a diehard Germany fan who loves his team's captain). |
Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
Speaking of Germany, when did Klose go from being Peter Crouch (Teutonic edition) to all sorts of awesome?
|
Re: Ronaldinho to Chelsea
He was actually pretty good for Werder Bremen the past few years, though they don't get the press that Bayern does obviously. His international record (35 goals in 70 games) is outstanding.
Don't compare him to Crouch. Crouch is straight rubbish. How a 6'7" footballer can be poor at heading and a passive player in the box is pretty embarassing. Klose is under 6' and he's got world class skills with the noggin. |
