Women: Theory and Practice.
Howdy, 2p2ers, just came out with Women: Theory and Practice Book Link. I did the right thing and paid homage to the Don and Ed in the Worldly Acknowledgments page:
Another professional mention must go to two non-political figures best described as “poker gurus.” David Sklansky’s and Ed Miller’s No Limit Hold 'em: Theory and Practice gave me the inspiration for part of my work’s title. In June of 2006, I began laughing after realizing that its subtitle would fit my work in the manner of a sheepskin condom. I wish to thank them for that book in particular along with everything else they have written. I’d also like to express gratitude to Mr. Sklansky a second time for a chapter he wrote in The Theory of Poker concerning the fundamental theorem of poker. The phrase resulted in my adapting it for a chapter title here. Thank you for your excellence, sirs. Just wanted to post and see if anybody might be interested in it. If not, that's cool. I self-published this one as I did my last one...which turned out to be a bad move on my part. WTP got excepted elsewhere about a month after I signed up for this edition (beat). Oh well. Anyway, Conservadom will be coming out with their own edition in a few weeks time. Here's the link: Book Link Thanks, Bernard Chapin |
Re: Women: Theory and Practice.
This book seems interesting
It takes courage to speak up about these topics especially in the US |

Re: Women: Theory and Practice.
Looks funny, what kind of practice are you describing in the book?

Re: Women: Theory and Practice.
Sorry to go off topic (especially seeing as this thread kinda bagan off topic), but what does the quote on the front of your book mean? At first I assumed it was meant to be comical, but then I read the synopsis and now I just don't understand it. Is it harking back (jokingly or otherwise) to the good old days when women would lift the toilet seat when they were done to save men the hassle?
Honest question, I swear. |
Re: Women: Theory and Practice.
No, Roman's referring to the company that's been selling alarms for toilet seats that go off when someone (a male someone) lifts up the seat. There's been a movement in Sweden and Germany to modify male behavior so we do not urinate while standing up it's supposedly a sign of our dominance. It's complete nonsense of course.
I know of no "good old days" when women ever did that nor does it seem likely they ever would, lol. |
Re: Women: Theory and Practice.
Behaviors, psychology, desires what not. No analysis of rivers or turns though.

Re: Women: Theory and Practice.
Yeah, I agree. Over the years speaking out has caused me misery. I have an essay on googling which did not make the cut but I make the point there.

[/ QUOTE ] So how does that fit with the "american male" having been "reduced to having to lift up his own toilet seat"? Isn't it a case of the european male being restricted from lifting his own toilet seat? I have to say I feel pretty stupid here, so I appologise if I'm just having some reading comprehesnion brain snap. And for the record, I don't know of those good old days either, it was just my best shot at a potential explanation for the quote. |
Re: Women: Theory and Practice.
Roman's a cartoonist and a silly guy. He was being tough in cheek. He's drawings are known for being "over the top." You should see his Lewinsky, lol.
