A8o EP low M
this was at a $200+30 live event but it's proly too easy a decision for the High stakes forum and I just posted two hands there.
I just doubled up to around 5k but the blinds are 300/600. I was also just moved to this table. no reads. I'm in UTG+1. UTG thinks, seems like he's contemplating a raise. then folds. push or fold? and what does UTG's actions represent - a weak ace? a pair? suited connector? can't tell? |
Re: A8o EP low M
On a full table this is a fold for me - but i actually have no pushbot charts here at work

You'll either get looked up by mid-high pockets, or Ax (x > 8), and you have 3 outs in both cases. Fold and wait for a better chance. |
Re: A8o EP low M
Pushbot chart says fold, but remember that pushbot chart says what is +EV if you turned your cards face up, so you might go a little looser with your cards face down. I mention this because pushbot chart says A9o is push.

Re: A8o EP low M
pushbot chart assumes 10 handed and we're 11 handed. also, pushbot chart explanation says you may want to push more often if the blinds are about to hit you. eg, my M is 5.5, will be about 4.5 in three hands.

Re: A8o EP low M
I fold this one, live does play tighter than online,so that has to be a factor,ie their callingranges will be pretty tight.Think the stacksizes on the table also comes into play here, but no matter what,to me at least A8o is too weak a hand to push with here.
Also, since live is pretty tight, you can probably push virtually atc next time you are in position and it has been folded around. |

[/ QUOTE ] UTG's action means nothing (as it relates to your hand.) Your decision depends upon other factors/variables such as: 1. Your position. 2. Stack sizes of the table, esp the blinds. 3. Your image, esp as it relates to raises from EP. 4. Your hand strength, and equity when called. (there are more...but these may be the most important) Without any further info, i'd fold A8o from UTG+1, with ~9BBs. Shoving weak aces from EP is EV- imo, at most tables, under most circumstances. There are a lot of good players that would rather be shoving ATC (with 7BBs) from the button, than shoving a weak A (with 9BBs) from EP. |
