High Stakes Poker thread (9/17)

Tonight's show is expected to be another memorable episode, with the addition of Farha, Negreanu, Gold, Harman and Elezra to the table tonight.

Edit to remove duplication.

Where's the advantage of showing a card there?

it is amazing how much the rest of the table openly disrespects jamie.

do you think he realizes this, or is he just so much in his own world that he doesn't pick up on all the snickering everytime he does something so stupid?

Re: High Stakes Poker thread (9/17)

I don't think he cares. I think he is willing to play in this game knowing it is -EV for him because he sees it as buying face time through his hollyweird eyes.
I think his long term plan is to have the last laugh when he cuts a movie deal for more than most of these guys are worth.

But to get a movie deal, he would have to be well liked.

Was I the only one who LOL'ed when Jamie blurted out "HOLY CRAP, NUT TRIPS!!!" (I'm paraphrasing) when that second king came on the turn? I think Eli's cards got in the muck before the last brick landed on the felt.

Farha and Elezra are two of my least favorites on the show. I'm not really sure why. Maybe it just pisses me off to watch someone who has enough money to call $16,000 with K7s. I'm sure most people would rather watch those two slop it around with garbage hands than a couple of nits fold for an hour. I guess I just like something in between...not nitty but not crazy stupid either.

For example, I really like the way Negreanu plays on the show. Esfandiari is another one of my favorites.

Negreanu was awesome tonight with the showing the one card and minbluffing Farha out, and then later when he switched Elezra's holecards with his own, gold. <3 Negreanu.

Agreed on Farha and Elezra. Both hyperaggrodonks imho.. super -EV in this game. Has farha ever CHECKED the flop in the history of the show. Elezra is a major donk preflop. Farha just raises with complete garbage preflop. I wonder how long he'll last this season.. if I recall he busted in quick fashion last time, rebought, lost more, then got up and left.

I still can't figure out where elezra and farha got their money. It sure isn't at NL holdem side games. I have a hard time believing they can be good at any kind of poker game given just how bad they are at NL holdem.

Of course maybe they just play this way on TV. Although Townsend took 2mil from farha live heads up too..

and btw, boo for high stakes not inviting townsend back. Who wants to see that nit Harman play. Get townsend back in there. Ivey too .. and bring back Brad Busto Booth. I want to see him raise bluff allin $300K with someone else's money

^Agreed about Baxter, he seemed to know what he was doing, somewhat, until that hand.

lol txbarbaroosa. I think it was Benyamine that let on that Sammy won something like $15 million in six months playing poker. He's considered a very good Omaha player, I guess that is where he makes his money.

I like the hand where Baxter lost $100k. They zoom in on his face right after it happened, and you can almost hear him say, "Dammit, guess I'll have to stay at the office an extra 15 minutes tomorrow to make up that loss."

Daniel was on the WSOP Players Committee. If he did his job he could have prevented that stupid "show one, show both" rule. And after all this time he still thinks it's a TDA rule, when it's a WSOP rule. I guess he never read either rulebook. So why is he on the Players Committee, when there are so many other players out there who make an effort to improve the poker world? Danny can't even be bothered to read his emails from the WSOP. Farha reminds me of this crazy fish that comes to my home game. The guy is always raising and calling with every draw. But the guy almost always leaves busto.

The difference I guess is farha is throwing around chips with 3 to 4 zeros on them I guess.

He ran sick good in season 1. Now the cards are breaking even.

Why the hell is phil taking insurance, will a 100k loss really hurt him that much???

Also the guys giving him insurance (Elezra here but Ivey on the WSOP) are giving him super bad prices, they are making soooooooo much EV off him

Re: High Stakes Poker thread (9/17)

I'd say the difference between Farha and the guy at your table is that Farha is a really good reader.

Everyone remembers him getting lucky in HSP 1, what they seem to be forgetting are all the amazing bluffs he made when his opponents bet into him and weren't strong. He won a bunch of $15k pots that way.

They dropped that rule right after the WSOP started. I specifically asked a dealer about it while playing.
