NCAAF rankings after week 3
surprised I didn't see a thread yet
I'll go first 1. LSU 2. Oklahoma 3. SC 4. West Virginia 5. Florida 6. Cal 7. Penn St 8. Oregon 9. South Carolina 10. Ohio St Honorable mentions: BC, Clemson, and Texas Refuse to consider: Rutgers--- go out and play someone you gigantic vags |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
I am starting to respect you. Except for WVU at #4, this looks good.
At what point will people realize that Oregon is just way better than Michigan? It had nothing to do with motivation. |

4. West Virginia 5. Florida 6. Cal [/ QUOTE ] Heavily disagree. That is all for now, as I'm eating. Haha. Mostly because of #4 |

If UM and Oregon played 5 times, Oregon would win 4..at least. How about some Boston College love. Winning at GT was a great statement. MT2R has them honorable mention, but very few realize just how good a win that was. |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
Wisconsin's true ranking is about 40.
My underrated teams: South Carolina Cal UCF BC |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
1 & 2, 2 & 1: USC & LSU
3 & 4, 4 & 3: OKLA, U FLA 5. WVU 6. PSU 7. Cali 8. OSU 9. Oregon 10. BC (gotta respect the 3-0 start in the conf ..... on the fast track to the conf. title game) I'll keep UT on the outside looking in .... red river shootout either makes them a top 5 team or a team ready for a free-fall? I'm still not sold on Cali's D, will know more in Pac 10 play. a lot of turnover in the SEC compared to last year - UK, USC, and Bama on the upswing right now |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
I don't care what you rank UF, it doesn't really matter until the LSU game.
I think USCe is still too high but they have a chance to prove themselves this weekend. |

USC has only played a decent Nebraska team and OU hasn't anyone, so who knows how good they are.... |

USC has only played a decent Nebraska team and OU hasn't anyone, so who knows how good they are.... [/ QUOTE ] I feel they are a little better than decent. It is just that the Big XII really is that inferior to the Pac-10 and SEC, this year IMO there is OU and then there isn't anyone else in that conference that is truly powerful--a team that can compete with the USC's and LSU's. W/ that said I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the year Nebraska is the second best team in the Big XII. Texas' schedule, once again isn't great which could make them an overrated 2-loss team when bowl time comes. |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
1t) LSU A&M
1t) USC 3t) Florida 3t) Oklahoma 5) Cal-Berkeley 6) Oregon 7t) Penn State 7t) tOSU 9) Boston College 10) South Carolina Notice West VA is not in the top ten. That is not an accident. It could change, but I was not impressed with them versus Maryland. |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
I'll take a shot (and w/o putting two schools in one ranking):
1. LSU 2. USC 3. OU 4. Florida 5. Cal 6. WV 7. PSU 8. tOSU 9. Oregon 10. BC |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
Until more games have been played and these teams deal with a couple more tests, I think there's no point in quibbling over #1 vs. #2 or whatever, but I think that the teams divide well into groups.
Top 4: Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, USC (note the intentional alphabetical order) I think that for the moment these four are clearly more deserving of the top spots than anyone else, the only question mark any of them have is "have they really been tested yet"? The second group is other teams that look top-ten-worthy so far, but have question marks of some kind, and includes Boston College, Cal, Clemson, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, and West Virginia (yeah, that's seven, so I have a top 11, sue me). Also, while I'm not going to put them anywhere near the top ten right now, one underrated team is Kansas. I don't care *how* bad your first three opponents are, when you outscore them 159-20 you're doing something right. They deserve more than the single 25th place vote they got in the AP poll. |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
1) USC -- unquestioningly the best
2) Oklahoma -- these guys are great 3) West VA -- boy these guys are fast. VROOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!! 4) Cal I guess 5) Ohio State 6) Michigan -- they beat ND 38-0 they must be great 7) South Carolina [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8) LSU -- overrated 9) Notre Dame -- it is gonna be tough to make a third straight BSC bowl game, but I think they can run the table! 10) eh, Florida |

[/ QUOTE ] True, it doesn't matter, but still a more impressive win over Tennessee. Sagarin has OU's SOS as 152nd in the country, so OU obviously hasn't been tested yet. Of course, with a new QB, I'm glad to have gotten these lighter games to start the season. |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
1-USC
2-LSU 3-OU 4-UF 5-WVU 6-Cal 7-PSU 8-BC 9-Oregon 10-Ohio State also, tdarko, did you go to the usc game? |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
I don't know if USC is that fast or Nebraska is that slow, but one looked like they had track shoes on and the other was playing in mud. I felt bad for Nebraska.

The AP poll has two problems this week.
South Carolina should be ahead of Georgia Kentucky should be ahead of Louisville |

Everyone not ranking USC #1, you do realize that as a team they avg 8.2 ypc (38/313/5td)? They held Neb to 1.1 ypc?
Their offensive line is just dominant. |

Cincy 20. Kansas 21. Georgia Tech 22. South Florida 23. Louisville 24. Washington 25. Purdue [/ QUOTE ] Why are these teams ahead of Nebraska and a few other teams? Nebraska is a 2-1 team but their SOS is 17th. Rutgers' is 184, Kansas' is 166, Purdue is 147 and Louisville is a 1 loss team as well and their SOS is 130. Kansas isn't even the second best team in the Big XII North--Mizzou is. Rutgers and Purdue haven't played anyone, so I am wondering what you are basing some of these on. Just curious. |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
It's hard to answer this actually. Basically after 18th I wasn't sure where to go so I picked a few teams I thought may surprise and a couple with a loss I still thought were good. I could be way off obviously and probably won't know for a while. Nothing against Nebraska they just haven't looked very good when I've watched them.
I'm surprised you didn't comment on Cincinnati or Arizona State, who was probably the biggest reach and I probably should have dropped a few but I didn't want to change it. Edit: I just looked at Sagarin's rankings and mine seem comparable enough, though it's obviously a small sample size. |

[/ QUOTE ] Cincy's last two wins, IMO were impressive. I did think you had ASU way too high but I didn't mention them b/c I couldn't decide if Nebraska should be ahead of them out of the teams I had mentioned. I think Nebraska is a much better football team and time should prove this, but as of right now--ASU's 3-0 against 3 below average teams puts them right around Nebraska at 2-1 w/ a tough schedule. I mentioned the others b/c 3-0 against cake teams should not put you ahead of a team who's only loss is to the #1 team in the country and has played a far tougher schedule. Oh well it doesn't matter right now anyway, these ranking change so dramatically from week to week anyway =) |

All hell breaks loose. Hell substitute Ok and OSU for WVU & BC as the only undefeated's .... now wtf happens? The "people" would want USC vs SEC neutral field winner, but what would the computer say? |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
My top 10:
1. LSU 2. USC 3. UF 4. Oklahoma 5. WV 6. Cal 7. Ohio State 8. Penn State 9. Texas t10. Boston College t10. Oregon |
Re: NCAAF rankings after week 3
tdarko,
yeah, I was there. the stadium was absolutely insane for the first bit...and then USC just ran away and alot of the energy was gone. But seriously, the first quarter was crazy. /end hijack. |
