no....help me out if you can.

Re: Any Math Majors here today? Need quick answers

4(-2)² + 8(-2) + 3(-2) + 6 = 8
(1/3)(9)³ = 76
-11(3/2)(.12(-12)) = 22 2/3
30 + (.0825 x 30) + (15% x 30) = 48
598% / 26% = 23%
4/5 + 3/4 = 32/20

edit: do you need working? no need to ship money, glad to help

Phil , how is 4*(-2)*(-2) + 8*(-2) + 3*(-2) +6 =8 ??

It should be 16 -16 -6 +6 =0

not just about, they are all wrong, and I assume it must be a level. 20 minutes? It took less than 5. all of the alternate answers are right.

I'm so confused. Is this some sort of weird level that I'm not privy to? My first response was going to be "this forum is not your calculator" but I thought that sounded a little harsh. The fact that Phil got any of those wrong, and that people are arguing about your answers has left me thinking that I must be missing something.

lol @ being outspoken and wrong.

Jay got them right first but to be fair these are 'order of operations trick questions' which a lot of people will screw up for the simple fact that they don't think twice about it.

Haha, fair enough. In my defense, I thought I made it pretty clear that I had a suspicion that I was getting leveled.

Cliff notes: Someone wants to cheat on his exam and needs quick answers
I deliberately give wrong answers
Jay gives correct answers
Everyone pretends that Jay is wrong so the cheater doesn't pass.
People come in later and don't know wtf is going on, because they're stupid

Something doesn't add up here . Op has been a user since 2002 , so it's unlikely that he is a young student .

Another possibility is that Phil actually thought he had the right answer and is trying to diminish his ineptitude for solving bedmas problems ?

My guess is that Op has a son or daughter who has a math assignment and has come here for assistance .

How did I do?

lol, everyone in this thread knew what was going down. These questions are a joke. An average 8th grader could answer them, and very few would get 5/5 wrong.

He seems older, but he posted two separate threads where he desperately needed answers in 20 minutes and offered $20. Either he or his daughter don't know their subject material, and he clearly didn't have any attempted answers since he never questioned mine. Someone is cheating at something. I'm all for helping people out, but not when they're being assessed. There's good reason not to give the incompetent false certification for things they can't actually do.

Seriously. I am astounded that some of the smart maths guys here (a) bothered to answer correctly, then (b) took the time to berate me for supporting Phil.

I know 11 year olds who could answer these questions.

I think it's pretty crappy to make fun of some dude for not knowing basic math. It's also crappy that this dude apparently wants to cheat on some homework or whatever. He should learn this stuff. It wouldn't take very long at all.

It might be crappy, but you have to admit it's funny to come running to a math forum for help at arithmetic operations. For christ's sake, use the goddamn calculator built into Windows if you need to cheat.

Re: Any Math Majors here today? Need quick answers

For some people Math is just nearly impossible, not sure why. i.e. I worked for a guy for a couple of years who ran his own service company. Mainly fixed and installed HVAC equipment, but the man could literally fix almost any mechanical/electrical machine in common use, but he couldn't figure decimals for the life of him or basic algebra.
