Borg 10/20 with Maniac and TAG, AKo OTB
 

Good Borgata 10/20 game most of the table is loose and passive. I've recently gotten a table change to sit to the left of the table maniac. He'd run a $500 buyin up to 2k but, is now down in the 1200 range. He seems to like to bluff, including turn CR semi bluffs and bluffs(against the field, not just heads up), loves raising and reraising preflop, and generally doing other retardo things. While his aggression usually isn't random but certinly overagressive in bad spots. 3 betting preflop OOP with gems such as A2s, and 44, CRing the field with a flush draw on the turn, etc. He certainly hates me. I've reraised him alot so far and have gotten the best of it. I'm up a rack in the 2 hours since I sat down.

To my left is a solid TAG who is a good friend and we dicussed poker strategy and hands alot together. She reads hands well and is certainly aware of the maniac and how I'm dealing with him. I think she is capable of using the maniac's aggression to try to move me out of the pot. She considers me a solid tight aggressive thinking player.

On to the hand.

Folding to the maniac who opens in the CO, I 3 bet A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the Button, SB(my friend the TAG) thinks and calls 3, BB folds, maniac calls.

I am clearly shocked by her coldcall of 3 in the SB and I'm sure she knows it. She is NOT calling here without solid hand values. I expect her range to me AJs, AQo, KQs, and maybe 77 and 88 and AJo. I expect her to cap anything better. She is very aware my range here for 3 betting is VERY light.

10SBs, Flop A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] TAG bets, maniac raises, I 3 bet, TAG calls, maniac calls.

10BBs, Turn 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Tag checks, Maniac donks, I?

It means increase your positive expected value by increasing the amount you may wager.

Dagger, what are your thoughts on the hand? Obviously you were considering something other than the gas can or you wouldn't have posted. I'm curious, as everyone else has basically said raise, with which I agree, but I'd like to here somebody play devil's advocate.

Ha ha.. I was the sb in the hand and I am not sure I could call 2 bets on the turn. Hate to be drawing dead for 2 big bets.

Doug,

This game is pretty sick. The last one I was in any utg raise would get aleast 5-7 players to the flop.

I raise here. By the flop action it looks like you still have the best of it.

Are you still in ac? How did Ben do in the limit tournament?

It obvious to me after the fact(edit: obvious that I should raise), but during the hand I was confused as to the TAG's range here. It seems like it's AJ or AQ almost always, and only has 3 outs against me. That might advocate not raising just in case the maniac lucked into a nine here and I get 3 bet, I have to call down is that happens, but even against the maniac I think I'm in trouble. He a maniac but he's not randomly retarded, just way overaggressive in weird spots.

Although the fact that she also can't fold those hands even for two cold on the turn also leans towards raising...

Yeah they are sick, and most situations are more suitable for small stakes, but this seemed to be a unique situation given the SB in the hand.

I stayed for 6 days and put in 75 hours in the 10/20, with a nice 200BB uptick. Seems I picked a good time to run good.

Ben went busto prior to the dinner break, nothing special, the field was super soft he said. Who knows next time I'll be down, but the games are so soft I imagine it'll be soon. It was fun meeting everyone and I can't wait til next time.

He quoted your post discussing the turn, but he's talking about preflop, saying that you should've either capped or folded.

We were sitting on table 17 I think. He actually got up with maybe $200 about 7 o'clock.
