Re: Pokerstars Bonus WCOOP!

Hi everyone:

I just want to clarify this post.

While we do have arrangements for a potential WCOOP bonus (as we do every year), the details and final decision have not yet been taken as to whether or not to have a WCOOP bonus this year, or what the details of such a bonus would be.

The email received by TOT represents an error on the part of the CSR who handled his question, and no bonus should have been granted. If a bonus is going to happen, you would receive all the usual popups and email to the address listed in your PokerStars account.

As I told TOT by email, we apologize for the confusion

He did a good job trying to help the customer, and there was a bonus that I was temporarily given with the name WCOOP2007, so an understandable mistake.

What is the logic behind a deposit bonus? Why not have a bonus for playing x number of hands? You could still force the bonus code to be entered to ensure people did not receive more than one bonus with the same promotion. That is basically what this amounts to - a hands played bonus. I have over $12,000 on PokerStars. Why do I need to incur the fees to deposit more money?

I guess EpassPorte is the best method to deposit on PokerStars? It appears that the fee is $5 per hundred so it will cost me $30 to get this bonus, plus the cashout fees? I guess I need to start reading the 100's of Epassporte posts that showed up in the search. Why doesn't PokerStars make it easier on their loyal customers?

You can deposit with echecks or cashout and redeposit now so you won't incur fees.

The logic behind a deposit bonus is to get former players to redeposit and play again.

They have a bonus for playing x number of hands. They just call it FPPs.

Per this link HERE Echecks were discontinued to U.S. players on 1/17/2007. Is that PokerStars page incorrect? Thanks for any information you may have.

Then why do they offer the bonus to all players? Forcing you to deposit costs many players extra money. It would be much more user friendly just to force players to play the hands for a bonus.

Re: Pokerstars Bonus WCOOP!

Take a look at the deposit options in the Stars software. Echecks were readded about 2 weeks ago I think.

They offer the bonus to all players out of fairness I guess, but their goal is to get players who are not regularly playing to deposit and start again. It's just a hunch on my part, but I don't think that a earn 1000 FPPs and get 100 bucks promo would be nearly as effective at bringing back former players. My guess is most people see MAN A BONUS AND ALL I HAVE TO DO IS DEPOSIT vs 1000 hands? That's a lot.

Man depositing is such a hassle but free money oh well.

Since they said no more double VPPs this will be just fine

temporarily given? I would expect after they gave it to you, even if by mistake, at least they wouldn't take it back. It's not as if they made an error and put extra cash into your account.

My story exactly. I have $500 itching to get deposited, and eChecks is now offline.

See the eCheck thread for current issues with this. No deposits or withdrawals are hitting the bank. I imagine Stars didn't want to have tons of eCheck deposits that weren't backed up by bank withdrawals, so they pulled the plug temporarily on eChecks (I hope!). Otherwise, it would really be FREE MONEY.

FYI

Hello Eric,

Thank you for your email.

At the present time, eChecks are not an available deposit method; I cannot
say when this will change, or if they will be available during the deposit
bonus period.

If you are able to make a deposit within a reasonable time frame after the
bonus period (anything within a week is reasonable), we will be glad to
extend the bonus until then.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Regards,

Jacob

If you cash out from Stars you can't collect the bonus.

It specifically states that you cannot cashout BEFORE you deposit or else you will not get the bonus.

Last year's WCOOP was 7x, the 5th Anniversary last December was 10x, and the 10 billion in May was 15x.

Can you transfer? I remember reading that it was ok durring an older bonus.

MicroBob 09-14-2007 07:26 PM

Re: Pokerstars Bonus WCOOP!

I would assume that transferring would be fine although i really don't know for sure.
I don't think they say anything about a transfer negating the bonus nor would it make any sense for that to be a problem anyway.

However, if you happen to transfer $500 to your 'buddy' or something and then that account cashes-out the $500 right-away and then you turn around and deposit it into your acct there's a reasonable chance Stars would get wise to your little scheme and deny you the bonus just for being annoying.
