Downswing Pt 2 - Graph of today
Ok some of you may remember my previous post where I explained the simply insane number of bad beats I am expected to tolerate on a daily basis. Well I played through that bad patch and actually had a nice upswing where I actually won with my sets etc which took me back up to break even and restored my br to it's former glory.
Finally I thought, I can start building my br up to 1k and move up to NL50. How silly of me to naively believe my tangle of variance biatch slapping me in the face was over. Yesterday I won only 50% of my big pots and I was favourite in 90% of them. Today I thought I would start keeping track of things. And it is the same. 50% OF MY BIG POTS I LOSE. Below is a graph of todays results. Every medium to big pot I lose where I am favourite up to river (and where they are not all ins I have made big bets to give opponents incorrect odds... I almost never slow play at NL25 fullring) I HAVE MARKED IN BLUE POTS I SHOULD HAVE WON. Every single big pot I won I did not suck out on people and that's fine because I don't play cards that way where suckouts are more than slightly likely, I'm just saying I wasn't lucky in those pots. The green vertical lines are pots where I admit I wasn't favourite and deserved to lose. http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/2689/zzzkc7.jpg I don't see the point of giving hand histories for all but off the graph and a hand I just finished playing I had top two pair against an over aggro opponent. I put a chunky overbet on the flop and a big bet on the turn. By the river the board is AK610J I had AK and he raised me all in and I folded and he showed a Q6. Every generic bad beat you can imagine not involving quads I have had in the last two weeks. This can't keep going on. |

I don't care what you all say. I'm posting this as a future reminder to myself. Only I know here I am experiencing an incredible run of bad luck. If I was having this run of bad luck at a level where the opponents are good I would be like 50 buyins down.

So you are bitching about losing three BIs and then getting back to even? [/ QUOTE ] OP stop posting about this. 3 buy in downswings in 1500 hands are utterly standard, this happens to everyone and its definitely nothing to post about. if you cant handle the swings then stop playing poker. period. by the way the swings get bigger as you move up in limits. |

upswing of justice reminded me of fist of potential.

[/ QUOTE ] You didn't read what I said. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY. EVERY DAY FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS EXCEPT A THREE DAY GAP I HAVE LOST OVER 50% OF THE BIG POTS WHERE I AM FAVOURITE. Typical example just happened five minutes ago: PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Hero ($23.50) BB ($13) UTG ($13.50) UTG+1 ($24.65) MP1 ($4) MP2 ($41.30) MP3 ($18.45) CO ($20.55) Button ($10.85) Preflop: Hero is SB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG raises to $0.75, 1 fold, MP1 raises to $1.25, MP2 calls $1.25, 3 folds, Hero calls $1.15, 1 fold, UTG calls $0.50. Flop: ($5.25) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero bets $4, UTG raises to $12.25, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, Hero calls $8.25. Turn: ($29.75) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) River: ($29.75) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Final Pot: $29.75 (He had JK off suit) Since I posted this topic I have had four big pots (including the above) where I was big favourite. I won one, lost three. I keep playing hoping my luck will go back to normal how it used to but day after day the same pattern of getting sucked out on has ripped my still bearting heat out in one fluid motion and thrown it against the bedroom wall at the force of 13 tomahawk missiles... thereby crushing my spirit. And literally just this second my aces get cracked AGAIN. I want to know wtf is going on here. |

Re: Downswing Pt 2 - Graph of today
I don't believe poker is rigged. But hundreds of thousands of people play. For every very ultra lucky person out there who keeps hitting his outs an abnormal number of times there is poor shmuck like me who repeatedly suffers severe pawnage at the hands of 72 offsuit. If you are one of those abnormal luckers please take a break for a second and thank that hoe called variance.

Re: Downswing Pt 2 - Graph of today
OP your actually really lucky. You have a great opportunity ahead of you...
Simply watch for your luck to change, be it poker, or just walking down the street and finding a $5 bill. When this happens move up a few levels and profit a ton. |

Re: Downswing Pt 2 - Graph of today
6 big pots today I lose 4 and win 2. I should have won five of them. The one I was behind was KK vs AA on a dry flop and I had KK... even that is just typical of my luck.
Two of the four I lose both went exactly the same way: Hit a set on drawy board, put in big raise, donk puts me all in, I call, he hits his straight on the river. One was open ended and the other wasnt. That has has happened five times in a row. I will play for two or three more days. If it continues I will take a break. I found this program Poker EV I am going to put my results into it now. |
