Why are you playing poker, recently in diablo's forum i read a thread asking, 'what would you do if money wasnt a problem'

Many pple said all kinds of stuff, but few really mentioned anything about poker. Well i would prolly play the highest cash games if i had enough money, because i love the game.

But the question is, do you play for money, or play because you like the game? I see some pple grinding out 200NL 12 tables lifetime, and i dont think they play cos they really like it (I would get really bored after a while). I see other players playing a -ev 50/20 style, but theyr actually a little bit decent post flop, and they clearly play because they enjoy the game.

well im curious so i made a poll :P . Excuse my bad english, since i have a limited vocabulary.

I got into it to try something different. Then I realized I can make money. These days, it's more money than entertainment.

idk both, but I dont play 50/20 because I hate losing more than anything in the world

Entertainment I suppose, I love playing but of course I like to make money as well. I don't cash out too often and have never actually purchased anything with my winnings so I like the challenge of growing my BR and winning tournaments.

I started playing online poker, cause I spent lots of hrs in front of the computer. I noticed you can make money with it and now it`s 90% for the money 10% for ego, competivenes etc ..

If I wanna have fun playing I play live.

If there were no money involved, I'd much rather play something like Starcraft or Final Fantasy.

also like some other people touched on, i already was and would continue to be a gamer regardless... but when it comes down to it after a couple thousand hours poker is pretty boring. i think magic was much more intellectually challenging, and wow was more fun. but it's pretty nice to be able to satisfy an obsessive need for mental competition with a naturally lazy lifestyle, and instead of just being some shutin loser, you can be the envy of a lot of people because of all the loot.

and you might not meet chicks through poker, but being that slightly offbeat but intriguing guy who owns property and stocks in his early 20s and is apparently really smart, is actually pretty appealing to girls if you take care of yourself and can sell it the right way. poker itself isn't attractive, but what it allows you to achieve a couple of years down the track if you are smart definitely is.
