Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...100/index.html
I'm amazed anyone would bother making a list this long, but at least it gives us something to talk about. Among my favorites: 41. Vince Young QB, Titans 42. Marvin Harrison WR, Colts LOL 63. Calvin Johnson WR, Lions Hater 214. Michael Vick QB, Falcons Real kick in the face to those other 276 459. Joey Harrington QB, Falcons Like this guy |
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
I like Kevin Williams getting some love.
|
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
lol Wes Welker is above Anquan Boldin and Marques Colston.
|
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
He has Adalius at #21, way too high. He must have on Pat colored glasses. Bush at #19 is way too high. He's good, but not rediculous just yet.

Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
The top 15 should be QBs. Urlacher at 7 is comical.

Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
When I read this I can't believe someone would spend so much time on something so few people would actually read in-depth.

lol Wes Welker is above Anquan Boldin and Marques Colston. [/ QUOTE ] I don't like Harb Arkush but he had a fantastic quote on radio: "The legend of Wes Welker has grown a lot since signing in NE". Nice player, but to me he's like Roscoe Parrish. |
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
Roscoe Parrish is awesome.
Edit: clearly, he's a top 15 player. |

41. Vince Young QB, Titans 42. Marvin Harrison WR, Colts LOL [/ QUOTE ] You left out the best part, which is the comments. 41. Vince Young QB, Titans May succeed Vick in role of NFL's Jordan 42. Marvin Harrison WR, Colts At 35, slipping a bit and not as physical When was Vick the NFL Jordan? If Marvin is slipping its very slightly. His numbers are down a little, but its obviously a result of having other talented receivers around him. As far as the "physical" comment, he was never remotely physical, so he hasn't become any less physical. |
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
King is a moron. His fantasy draft this year for sports illustrated is one of the worst teams ever assembled. I dont understand how he is an NFL expert, or how he can watch something so much and understand it so little.

Antonio Gates TE, Chargers A more muscular Kellen Winslow [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty speechless on this one |

Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players

LOL http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ain/index.html King took Lynch #8 overall. [/ QUOTE ] Some of the other teams are just as bad. Sabino's receivers are Calvin johnson, devin hester, roscoe parrish, robert meachem. The structure is also retarded with any TD being 10 points. There is maybe 1 good team. |

"113. Brett Favre QB, Packers At 37, in best shape of his life " [/ QUOTE ] Are you saying this is too low, too high, that he's not in the best shape of his life? I'm a little confused as to why you singled this one out. Oh, and I agree about Marvin Harrison. LOL. |

Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
Yeah, after reading his comments a little bit more, this thing is hilariously lol.

Santana Moss not a WR? CJ and S.Moss is not bad for a 12 team league, especially when your QB is Bulger and you start 3 top 25ish rbs (Maroney, McGahee and Duece), have a decent RB backup (J.Jones) and a top 6 or so TE (V. Davis). |
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
McNabb at #72 below a guy who has never played a down in the NFL (Calvin #63), and also below three quarterbacks that he is unquestionably better than (Young #41, Rivers #38, Hasselbeck #20).
I mean, I know he said age matters, so that can help explain Rivers and Young. But Hasselbeck is older than McNabb. |
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
Champ Bailey at 6 and Nate Clements at 49? Hmm...
|

Champ Bailey at 6 and Nate Clements at 49? Hmm... [/ QUOTE ] He has Winfield (a bit overrated), Mathis (very good), Asomugha (very good), in between those two. I think Clements is slightly better. I think he has favored Seattle, San Diego and NE over some other teams. Those teams are very good but still they don't deserve that many players in the top 50 in the league. I think Gore is underrated, #72 is way low. I guess injury concerns might leave you here, but he did lead the NFC in rushing last year. If he's going to put Kerrey Rhodes at #29 for being so young and so good I don't see how he ranks certain players. As someone pointed out Matt H at #20 is pretty rediculous. Roy Williams (WR) is better than #90. Westbrook is better than #96. Pacman should be hire especially if Hester is that high. Eli is too high. I guess Roy Williams (SS) is right where he belongs, maybe too high. Lee Evans should be higher. Colston way too low. Bob Sanders is way too low 196. Mario Williams is way too low. I think Landry (Redskins) is too low. Then again I like Rookies. |

So maybe King has him overated but he has never made a probowl, so in general he is vastly underated. |
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players

214. Michael Vick QB, Falcons Real kick in the face to those other 276 [/ QUOTE ] Vick should either be way higher or off the list completely, King provides no reasoning either. It would be very difficult to rank 500 NFL players, but just compare where he has Hasselbeck to and where he has McNabb, what a joke. |

Aaron Kampman at 16.
wow... |

246. Randy Moss WR, Patriots Hurt by Week 2 or 15 TDs Who knows [/ QUOTE ] |
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
WTF top 500? Peter King is insane. No comment on list, er maybe later. 500!?!??!
edit: The criteria: importance of the position (I had quarterback, left tackle, pass rusher and cornerback at the top, but with room for the explosive player), talent level and age -- with a nod to young players on the cusp of a breakout season (I rank opportunistic Jets safety Kerry Rhodes 29th. LOL. Okay............. Palmer should be 3rd, Rivers higher. WTF McNabb 72. wow. |
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
How many consecutive years has Brett Favre been in the best shape of his life? By 100 I expect him to be made out of solid gold.

MMQB
Didn't want to start another thread; I thought this was a pretty good read on what it's like to be a bubble guy. |
Re: Peter King\'s top 500 NFL players
132. Jordan Gross T, Panthers LT, RT ... it's all the same to him
134. Jammal Brown T, Saints MVP of a rebuilt offensive line WTF?? Brown is a franchise LEFT TACKLE. Gross is a decent RIGHT TACKLE. How dumb can you be? |
