HIgh Stakes Poker 4 thread (8/27)

Tonight is the first week of the new season High Stakes Poker on GSN, starting at 9pm ET. The person who usually contacts me about what the lineup would be hasn't yet, so I'm sure it'll consist of the people in this list at http://gsn.com/hsp/players.php

I'll let others elaborate from here.

lol... Galfond's bio:

"Galfond is set to make his High Stakes Poker debut on Season 4. One of the younger players, Phil was born in 1985 and currently resides in Madison, Wisconsin. He considers himself to be a full-time Poker Pro; primarily playing online in No-limit games with pots ranging from $300 to $600. Specializing in 'Heads-up' play, Galfond recently turned to journalism and writes freelance articles on Poker for a wide-range of media outlets."

Wow... pots up to $600 in size!

never thought Hellmuth had it in him ... wonder if he still would've bet the river if he knew for sure that Matusow had an over pair. I can't imagine he'd think that Matusow, of all people, would release KK there.

I coulda sworn Phil was thinking "there's no way I'm gonna get Mike to fold anything he called 17K with now that the six paired."

Go Phil.

The commentary is already tilting the [censored] out of me. I'm so excited to see some action when it first comes on, then I have to listen to Gable whine about a BBQ for like 30 secs? wtf?

also, Gabe saying Mike should raise turn with KK is kinda dumb.

also love how Phil goes off when that guy tells him that he "finally gets respect" for the way he played that hand.

Matusow raises KK, Phil reraises 72o (they made a rule if you win any pot with 72 you get $500 from everybody at the table). Flop QJ6 rainbow check check, turn 8 Phil bets 17k into 15k or something, Mike calls. He bets $40k on river and Matusow folds.

Good logic by Phil to risk about $60,000 to try to win a side bet of $4,000.

yeah, i don't get that either -- when i play "seven-deuce" (we call it "bounty"), i only play it in limit poker and if the 7-2 hand wins, everyone else at the table has to pay 1 big bet ... with those pot odds, playing 7-2 makes a lot more sense.
