Well it looks like its a wrap over at Pokerwire, no more updates, no more pokerwire radio, damn those exclusive chip update contracts, what a joke.

Re: Pokerwire Finished
Very sad to read this.
Jen, along with Heather & Amanda (and the boys) invented and perfected realtime chip count reporting. Cheers, PokerWire crew... next round is on me. Best, Adam ps. I'll take Jen Creason in any chip count prop bet under the sun. |
Re: Pokerwire Finished
I actually really enjoy pokerwire radio.

I actually really enjoy pokerwire radio. [/ QUOTE ] Me to! According to Joe Sebok today (http://www.pokerwire.com/home) he is confident of saving the show. It appears that him and the Bear are starting up their own media site "The Poker Road" which will presumably host the Radio Show, amongst other content. |
Re: Pokerwire Finished
I just have to laugh at the WPT for doing something so ignorant.
WPT and Harrahs see each other as competition, so to hang with harrahs, WPT signs an exclusive deal for coverage. Nice job WPT....shoot yourself in the foot why don't you. So I got on the phone with Steve Lipscomb and tried to explain to him how bad of a move this is. Just because Harrahs did it doesn't make it a good move for the WPT. Harrahs made a bad move, so WPT feels they must make a bad move as well. Why in the hell would you limit the coverage of your events? Why would you not want Pokerwire, pokernews, etc, etc to cover all your events? Steve's only answer here is "well, we were approached by CP for this...it wasn't our idea....and it's only a one year deal.....if it's not good, we won't resign it next year." Man it just really seems the poker world is loaded with people who are freaking clueless when it comes to running a business. WPT has shown to be one of the worst. |

Re: Pokerwire Finished
i wonder if Stars and the APPT / PokerNews plan to be as rigid with their access rules as the WPT / CardPlayer...

Re: Pokerwire Finished
Now Negreanu is making veiled threats to drop his CardPlayer affiliation in a post on Pokerwire.com. It appears that all this time hanging out with Hachem is making him realize that poker is going to boom and bust without the main tour ever giving substantial money to players. 460 players at Legends - 1M dollars for first probably. yikes. The problem is also that the poker boom produced so many great NL tournament players. There used to be 30 good players and 50 dead money. Now there are 200 good players and 260 dead money. Lots more variance, less edge - especially with the final table structure.

Re: Pokerwire Finished
that sucks. pokerwire was by far the best poker podcast.

Re: Pokerwire Finished
The only good thing about PokerWire was the radio show. The website was always second rate.
I thought the Eugene Todd Bro was episode was the best poker podcast ever! They better get picked up somewhere else. |

The fewer media outlets covering the tournaments the less we will hear what really happens at the tables. Check out the rant at PokerBlog.com Poker Blog

Re: Pokerwire Finished
The poker boom is over. The market is shrinking. WPT Ent. know this and are simply maximizing their profits while they can. Their actions are not limiting the expansion of poker because they know the market is not expanding and will never go mainstream - to major non internet advertisers, poker is gambling plain and simple. Targeted demographic markets are accessed and segmented much more effectively through many other "non stigmatized" industries and programming.

Was my favorite line. It's too bad that Andy Bloch or FTP doesn't realize the value of this thing. Have you seen Cardplayer's Video crap? The streaming is horrible. The commentators are two below average looking interns who don't add anything to the broadcast. It's like Cardplayer wants to throw out the cheapest schtick and expect us to watch it. At least Pokerwire radio tried to do something fun and be a little creative without being uptight. Pokernews is a bit better with Tiffany Michele. However, hearing about the prop bets, the high stakes FT action and how Barry berates Joe about his play was much more interesting. Erik Seidel reading the news...genius! Maybe Eugene Todd Bro should get his own show! It may be the only way he could make money at this poker thang... |
