Peanut Butter and Jelly Question *With Pole*

OK, I'm a relative newb here, but couldn't think of another place to put this argument. When I make a PB&J sandwich, I put a decent amount more peanut butter than jelly. I assumed everybody did this, because in my mind, Peanut butter is far more delicious than jelly, jelly is simply an accessory to the deliciousness of peanut butter.

However, my roommate informed me that he puts more jelly than peanut butter on the sandwich. So we had a debate, and we both think that the majority sides with our individual viewpoint.

Peanut butter is the filling part of the sandwich, and I put significantly more of it on.

I put jelly beans on my peanut butter sandwich. Less jelly beans than peanut butter though.

yup me too. the problem is, with the grape jelly I like, it comes out in a big blob, and is too much of a pain in the ass to spread, so I just put a bunch of huge blobs on there until the bread is covered. PB spreads pretty easy, so I dont put as much on.

also, plain lays potato chips, I like those on there too.

I put about equal amounts of both.

I'm glad you did not include a picture of a wang.

slightly more peanut butter, 'cause I love it. The Jelly/honey is basically there in the same of a bit of sweetness and some added viscosity.

What, are you pregnant?

Peanut Butter and butter is yum. The butter makes the peanut butter peanut butterier, if that makes any sense.

When I do jelly the jelly volume is 2/3rd the peanut butter volume.

Here is a GREAT tip for making PB&J sandwiches: put PB on both pieces of bread (toast if desired) then slather the J in between. The PB will protect the bread so it won't get all soggy from the J. YOU'RE ALL WELCOME!!!

kidcolin 08-23-2007 02:28 PM

Re: Peanut Butter and Jelly Question *With Pole*

never been a big pb&j guy. When I was a kid I ate PB sandwiches probably every day for 8 years straight. So just PB for me.

If for some crazy reason I'm feeling some jelly, I definitely put more peanut butter. But the ratio is normally 100:0.

I never really liked pb&J unless there was more Jelly than PB. I would always tire from eating PB, as it sticks to every part of your mouth and I felt it pretty annoying to eat. As long as there's tons of Jelly, the pb doesn't stick as much and I enjoy them. They're quite tasty.

No.

I'm indifferent to this thread/pole as I haven't had a PB&J in like twenty years, but I do remember being annoyed by how the jam inevitably made my hands sticky.

Also, I was always envious of the "crust off" crowd and was apparently too stupid to realize that I could take them off too.

The correct answer is: do not use jelly. Use butter, peanut butter, bananas, chocolate sauce/syrup, and peanuts.

I think I saw a jar of mixed in the grocery a long time ago. Do they still sell this? And if I recall, it was only with grape jelly.

Guids,

That sloppy blobby curdled crap method is horrible. Who wants to take a bath after every bite or smear sticky jelly snot wads on their glass of milk. PB more than jelly. About 2 packs of condiment jam is perfect.

DrewDevil, you need to elaborate on this "running debate" about sandwich jelly. Is it basically:

DD: Grape is the best jelly ever, this is a fact.

DDwife: No, that's an opinion, and strawberry is actually the standard.

DD: You can hide behind semantics and lies but it is an undeniable fact that grape is the answer.

To dovetail this slightly with the OOT moderation thread, I think what you're looking for is not "retards" but "people with a different sense of humor". I think specifically your distaste for and attitude towards this stype of stuff clashes with a lot of OOT and when that leaks into actual policy it's a problem.

It's really no different than any of your flip remarks towards people with different tastes in television or who don't use RSS feeds, referring to them as 'simple', 'plain', <insert thinly veiled insult here>. And he puts up with it, so it's not policy. I guess this is a hijack, but Daryn's about the last mod I'd ever be concerned with.
