Poker Radio
I saw that someone started a thread called Poker Vids and I thought that there should be one about Poker Radio shows as well. Does anybody know of any poker radio shows other than Rounders Radio?
Lately Gary Wise has been hosting a show over there and it looks like he is getting some pretty decent guests to boot. I didn't hear the show myself but I heard that he had Barry Greenstein last week. Tonight Gary's site claims that they will have Jamie Gold and Mike Matusow. http://roundersradio.com/betaplayer/wise-hand-poker.htm Any way... anybody else got any suggestions on Poker Radio shows? Or perhaps if you listen to Gary's show and you want to comment on it, go for it here. I know I plan on listening this week and hopefuly they will also be takling callers. |
Re: Poker Radio
Espn has the podcast which goes every once in a while with Phil Gordon and guests.
Also another one is www.holdemradio.com which has hosts like Lou Kreiger, Susie Issacs (sp), Dr. Al (2+2 author fame), and tons of other shows. |
Re: Poker Radio
Thanks sanmarcosrun1 I will have to check it out.

Re: Poker Radio

Re: Poker Radio
Go to pokerwire.com and listen to some of their archived shows. They are hilarious.

Re: Poker Radio
Thanks guys - good suggestions one and all.
I was a little disappointed to find out Gary's show was cancelled last night. I hope they reschedule the same guests. |
Re: Poker Radio
Also Tom Schneider (WSOP POY 07) has a pretty good podcast called "beyond the table" I think. Search in iTunes and you can find it. The sound quality is sometimes annoying cause they record it using Skype and there's a guy on it with the most annoying voice ever, "kerrity" or something (seriously, his voice puts me on instatilt, which is saying something, I'm a sngicons member (beat) and I didn't think it got worse than that).
Bigpoker.ca is really good, I like the commentary on that a lot. It also seems to be pretty regular unlike most other poker podcasts I have listened to. It's probably tied with Pokerwire for my favourite podcast and then Schneider's one comes in 3rd. Oh also I guess Scott Huff, formerly host of the Circuit, and the new host of pokerwire radio, joe stapleton, have an old podcast called "two jacks in the hole" they used to do. It is not ALL poker, but oh man it's awesome, well worth getting and listening to, again search itunes. |
Re: Poker Radio
pokerwire and rounders are the only shows worth listening to imo. bluff and ante up make me want to simultaneously puke and punch myself...strange reaction i know docs cant explain it. when i went in to get the disorder checked out the doctors played phil gordens wsop pod cast to see how i would react. i killed two docs and a nurse after scratching off my left ear. i was facing life, but when the judge heard PG's pod cast he understood...the judge and i both could see the thick irony of a legal system that would let a creep like phil gorden walk around free while locking me up.

Re: Poker Radio
mr.bum - "puke and punch myself" - dude I would pay good money to see that!

Re: Poker Radio
i hear that pokerwire radio is about to be killed off can anyone give me any info on this please. thanks in advance.

Re: Poker Radio
pokerwire website says it all... RIP Pokerwire Radio.
|
Re: Poker Radio
Beyond the table is entertaining. Not really much if any poker strategy. More like a few friends ripping each other and poking fun at things with a poker edge, entertaining though.
Rounders is a good show. Sucks if pokerwire is going under, I liked that one also. Ante up, if that's the one from some guys in florida that show isn't very good. |
Re: Poker Radio
Just finished reading about the PokerWire radio. Those people over at WPT, they really are starting to piss me off and I may stop tuning in to their program all together. After all it isn't like there aren't dozens of other poker shows to watch.
Sorry to see you sign off pokerwire. |
Re: Poker Radio
I just heard about the pokerwire news. Just another in a line of unfortunate effects on the community thanks the CardPlayer/WPT deal. Worse still, if Gavin, Joe and Joe try to find another venue, they're probably going to find that the monopolies that are forming will make it impossible for them to find a venue that will offer them the kind of compensation needed to get guys with their time demands to do a show. I hope I'm wrong, but i don't think I am. Gavin Joe and Joe, thanks for letting me be a small part of pokerwire radio. Such a shame.
Gary PS: It really is unfortunate that WPT's part in the poker boom has made them feel they have no obligation to stewardship for the game. |
Re: Poker Radio
Hey Gary - I went to your show last week and couldn't help but nbotice that the guests weren't on, you got them coming back any time soon?

[/ QUOTE ] last week, the production studio had some major malfunctions and we were forced off the air, sorry about that, guys. Trust me, it's last thing i wanted to have happen. We're going to get the Mouth on another time, and he and I will go to war about WSOP. We have Todd Brunson and Jamie Gold on tonight and the producers tell me all systems are a go. Should be fun. [/ QUOTE ] I agree that the WPT deserves its share of blame and finger pointing, but the entity that deserves the most blame is the WSOP who started this type of thing. It shouldn't be too surprising that the WPT did this after the WSOP made this a reality, which led to companies like Cardplayer rushing to overpay for exclusive rights in response to fears that they would be the odd man out. Either way its sad that the best site for updates, along with the best poker radio show is no more. And now that there is no competition, don't expect for there to be an increase in quality. |
Re: Poker Radio
Good point Franchise 60 - monopolies seldom lead to better products - just look at Windows history LOL

Re: Poker Radio
Hey Gary - I hear you are going to have Robert Williamson III and Hevad "RainKhan" Khan on your Rounders Radio show tonight, very cool. How about a shout out to the boys playing their Wednesday Series of Poker tonight???
|
Re: Poker Radio
Except for Pokerwire/The Circuit with Sebok & Smith, I've found the rest mostly unlistenable.
Beyond the Table is awful. |
Re: Poker Radio
Rounders the poker show is by far the best. Not only that they always are up to date with what is happening on 2+2 and poker news in general.
They are going straight to podcast now. |
Re: Poker Radio
...poker on the radio is almost a captivating as golf on the radio

Re: Poker Radio
It is true. Haralbob and I are going to be joining forces for a weekly poker talk show at Barry and Joe's new site. The show is based out of L.A. and will have nothing to do with poker strategy and everything to do with scandals, and other assorted scuttlebut from around the poker world, which god knows, is way more interesting than listening to a possibly losing tourney pro talk about how to play ace-king (they are lying anyway).
I'm hoping to lean on this forum a lot. And Bob and I already have. We have booked a regular 2p2er for our first show to talk about the AP scandal. Without giving away too much else about the show, let's just say: Bob and I will not be holding our tongues. After a week or so we will be streaming live, and taking live calls. Hopefully people will want to get involved. Check the site on sunday for the first show and contact information. Also, in response to the above post, there are three shows. The two listed above, and one with Joe Stapleton and myself, called TwoJacksintheHole - not poker related at all. Just us talking a lot of S, and cracking jokes. -Huff p.s. although it says this is my first post, i have been a semi active member of the 2p2 community since my sophomore year in college in '01. Under a different name, obv. |
Re: Poker Radio
rounders is going podcast only from the nerxt show, but they did say they have something potentially big in the works??? i like that show even tho i get it 3 days later
|
Re: Poker Radio
Sounds awesome Scott, I'm looking forward to it

Re: Poker Radio
this is pretty random gary but does not playing that shock ever keep you up at night?
|
Re: Poker Radio
Rounders I think is the best poker show out, I really hope they're big thing goes down and they get some type of deal. They are always up to date with what's going on and have the best interviews. I didn't really start posting on 2+2 until they talked about the AP story. Which was two days after it was first discussed on 2+2. They have been mentioning every week but I can bet 100 dollars the next show will be about the AP scandal and the Void winning the WCOOP main event, especially since they said they would have Vanessa Rouso.

I don't play much these days, though I may go to new York to see some buddies. The thing about that shock is I'd just been kicked out of england and my head definitely wasn't in the game. Ah well, the ring made up for it. |

To be honest, I haven't really thought about having her on because of a lot of the stuff talked about here. Not that she cares, obviously. The big deal we are working on is basically done. Mike and I will be hosting our show here at 2+2. Can't wait! Adam. |
