Pet Peeves during live MTTs
 

I absolutely cannot stand someone who sits down and begins telling someone he knows about a hand "at the 10k event last month" or that hand "at the Borgata $5k" etc....

There is one player in particular who does it all the time and Im so lucky it seems like I draw his table every time I take a shot in one of these damn things. HINT*Made Mirage 10k final table once and is now busto

when someone hollywood's it EVERY SINGLE HAND preflop - you raise and they stare you down for like 15 seconds every time. this guy was doing it at the main event this summer... after awhile i just start staring at him and we would just stare at each other for 10 seconds... eventually it had me laughing.

I had one guy at my table during some wsop event that acted like he was going to throw his cards away, then looked at them, then acted like they were going to get mucked again, then looked at them again, 4 times total every hand. It made me want to jump off a building.

everytime i play live donkaments..theres always a villain that sits there when you guys are HU and thinks he has you beat..shows his cards to his side of the table while they just roll there eyes, flips a coin, takes off his glasses, turns his ipod off, try to pull a helmuth bitch

then i get ulta tilted when i find out he was doing it when he had J7 on an AK7 board

i see this move all the time in cash games. it's hard to ever say anything because the old nit just lot a big pot every time it happens. old nit insta calls river. you table top pair. he looks at his cards, looks at the board, looks at the cards, thinks about mucking, looks at the cards again, finally mucks.

when you are down to the final 3-4 players with the blinds really high and the floorpersons start acting alllike bungholes. their body language clearly states they want you to hurry up and chopso they can go home. it happens in LA all the time.

When you get to the final table and the biggest stack has an M of 12 with blinds that double every 20 minutes won't take a deal where cl gets a little less then 2nd place money and everyone else splits the rest.

This drives me insane. I don't understand why people can't just turbo muck when they know they have a losing hand.

The guy at the final table who is berating everyone to chop because he doesn't even have enough chips to make the big blind.

The guy who calls your allin with 30% of his stack with 56offsuit...of course he always does it when you have 44.

People who want to talk to me when I have my IPOD on...I guess it isn't obvious why I have it on.

Floorperson who sets the dealer box on the table in front of you when you finished one inside the money and didn't even get your full buyin back and then says "would you like to leave a little something for the dealers?"

Dealers who can't handle a side pot.

Sunglasses in a $100 event.

Getting AA in level one.

I find a lot of these pet peeves entertaining during an otherwise boring live tournament.

During a Borgata tournament a few weekends ago, a woman had this consistent mannerism of checking her cards, putting in her chips, and then putting on her sunglasses. One time, she was so involved thinking about her PF raise amount that some old guy on the button called the clock on her PF and she forgot to put her glasses on once she finally made her min raise. Right before I folded in the BB, I jokingly whispered to the SB, "look, she didn't put her glasses on, do you think it's a tell?" The SB triumphantly announces to the table, verbatim: "This woman has a tell, when she doesn't put her glasses on, she's extremely strong."

Punchline: as the woman is gathering the pot, she quietly whispers a line (or close enough) from the movie Rounders, "the rule is, if you spot a man's tell, you don't say a freaking word."

How many popular pet peeves were in this story?

I hate with a passion min raisers and people who donk bet min bet... Srsly wtf? I raise to 150 pre flop they call.. They bet 50 on flop then it comes to me and im like O RLY? and have no idea what this stupid bet means as its so stupid...

This may not make sense, but I HATE a drunk player.

They take foreeeeeeever, and don't play near correctly.

I was in this like 40 person tourney, paid top four, and I was chip leader with five left.


Drunk guy keeps calling me, My AK beat by his Q4, then my 10 10 beat by 5-6, and so on and so on.

He takes the chip lead, then KO's me with his 22 vs my KK.

I get up and leave with nothing, drunk guy has like 75 percent of the chips with four people left.

He keeps playing like a maniac, and finishes, yep, fourth.

No sober person would have played the way he did.

I HATE drunks!

Besides all of the above? People who try to hide their big chips and dealers who don't tell them it's illegal.
Then I have to tell them and they argue every time till the dealer finally sets them straight.

When I played the WSOP main-event a couple years the guy sitting next to me was a little bit stinky and had lousy breath.
He also liked to people-watch and talk about it so I got more of his breath than I really wanted.

I played in a local tourney lately and shoved like 3 times when it was down to 6 players in about 10-12 hands... Blinds were getting so big it was either shove or fold. Old dude that doesn't understand this says "Is that the only move you know?!?" LOLOLOL

I also hate when you are called on the river after raising and table your bluff. He takes 4 minutes looking at your cards, the board and his cards then finally tables 26of clubs for winning flush [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

obviously when you're shortstacked in push/fold scenario and you're just bored out of your mind because there's no thinking at all involved in your play but the other idiots at the table take 2 minutes on every decision (not stalling, just because they're retarded) and all you want to do is see if next hand you're pushing or folding. you can't even be excited about doubling up because you still won't have a stack but you end up spending 45 minutes at the poker table while actually thinking about what to do for all of 10 seconds total.

This can be from not really being able to see the cards from across the table.
I've kind of done this before because it was all the way across and there was some glare coming off the cards and I couldn't tell what the hell they had.

Trying to see if they made a straight when you can't tell one of the cards across the table can be kind of tricky.
