General Interest Thread for Mac version of next gen PokerTracker

It was briefly mentioned the PT next generation thread by PokerAce that if there was a large amount of interest then they would at least consider a Mac version of the software.

If the moderators don't have any objections I'd like to use this thread as an online petition for Mac users to voice support for this.

Thanks.

Re: General Interest Thread for Mac version of next gen PokerTracker

ohhhhhhhhh yeesssssssss.

I have seen quite a few "what poker software can I use on my mac" posts in the last few months, and the answer is always bootcamp/parallels and poker tracker.

Great answer for a wintel mac, but my imac G5 is pre chip switch and I would give my right testicle for PT, but stupidly don't wanna use a PC.

Mac PokerPro was just about alright when I first got it, but after 10,000 hands or so it became bogged down, really slow and a lot of it's poor filtering options have ceased to work altogether. Support seems to be non-existant.

So, sign me up. I may even PM other known mac users to join in, but I am terribly lazy!

I'm interested. I have a macbook with an intel chip.

I am interested. Explain to them they are missing out on a lot of money. A lot of people use the intel but they definitley would rather not because bootcamp messes up some computers and is kind of a pain.

Yes please, esp with a native version of Pokerstars for Mac in the pipeline. That would make the 2 largest rooms, FTP and PS, supported native on mac.

I should probably say that I'm not affiliated at all with the project. Just a Mac user/Poker hobbyist who's interested in seeing more Mac based poker software. And since PokerAce and Pat from PT read this forum and since they'll likely see this thread it seemed like a good place to get things rolling.

I can no longer go back and edit my original post to add this.

I've been kicking around the idea of getting a Macbook and this would sway me to the new PT as opposed to Holdem Manager or whatever other programs are coming out.

I would be very intrested. I bought two years ago my first computer, iMac, and I was very satisfied with it. After I started playing poker, I had to buy laptop with Vista to track my and opponents game. I wanted to make more money in the game.

If Poker Tracker for Macintosh would be published, I'd be able to play poker happily on my iMac again.

I haven't used a Mac since the old Mac Classic nearly 15 years ago. Those of you with experience, what kind of database options would there be for Macs?

Josh,

I am fairly sure PostgreSQL is a ciable option on Max OSX - it is a UNIX after all

(no Mac OSX for me, just unreliable info based on my random browsings)

PostgreSQL and MySQL both work on OS X

I see no reason why PokerTracker 3 will not be Mac compatible.

We may need some of you as beta testers though

You mean it will run natively or compatible through virtualization?

Some people are still on PowerPC macs and a native OS X version would be amazing.

It should run natively on OS X. Everything we are using/coding is cross-platform compatible; therefore, it should run on OS X, Windows, and Linux with no problems. Now obviously this is theoretically, we have not tested it yet and some problems may arise but this is what we are shooting for...

When the time comes for beta testing, I will definitely make sure to get some of you OS X users to help test. I'll bookmark this thread and keep everyone posted.

I also think it would be a great idea for all Mac users. Win/win situation for both the programmers and users.

I have a MacBook Pro and play around 10-15K hands a month on fulltilt. I will happily beta test the next gen of PT in OSX for you all. This is fantastic!

I would like to beta test when the opportunity comes around. I've alpha tested rvg's software and I've given a lot of feedback on various other poker programs re: bugs/improvements. I own a Macbook Pro and an Intel Mac Mini.

OSX version would be profoundly satisfying. Set it up to run off of mysql, if'n youre feeling bold.

Me too, we are tons of players that got a MacbookPro to play poker on, so they will definitely get some more buyers if they make it compatable with osx.

Longtime lurker, I'm using my first post to add my voice to the fray. I'm a mac user (Intel) and currenlty use Poker Office through Boot Camp (and sometimes MacPoker Pro when I just can't be bothered to reboot). I would absolutely switch from PO to Poker Tracker if PT released a Mac version, and would happily beta test as well. Thanks.
