AQ: Rivered trips but now he leads for pot...wtf?

Villain is like 38/22/2 over a smallish sample and seems pretty bad.

ewww pretty bad card for you on the river, this is screaming fold to me against a decent player (just got that I'm beat feeling), what do you beat? AJ, Ax, idk tough call if you make it. QJ, a10, a6, maybe even TT he flips up

How is that a bad card for hero on the river? The river card changed absolutely nothing. Given stats and your read, I have to call here.

this guy can have pretty much any Ax and he thinks this card improved him. call. you'll be beat some times but you're ahead 1 in 3

Against someone who's not totally retarded this is a fold, they don't play Ax like this, must be a str8 or a house. Against a drooler, call.

If you don't call this river, you should't be betting turn.

Does anyone like checking the flop? I guess we're still likely to get calls from KQ and AJ type hands and possibly TJ type hands. But I still think checking the flop might be good.

The biggest problem against checking the flop (outside of giving a free card) is that we're not likely to get another bet out of a worse hand by showing weakness on the flop.

This is exactly the opposite. Against a decent opponent you should bet the turn planning to not put any more money in. If you check the turn you should call the river, but checking this turn would be bad.

" Villain is like 38/22/2 over a smallish sample and seems pretty bad " This is a decent villian?

I'm not betting this turn and folding this river to this guy.

looks a lot like Ax to me, especailly since hes a 38/22/donk shorstacked donk.
a lagtard is ch/r'ing 2pr/sets/straights by the turn if not on the flop.

im definitely at least calling river and thinking about shoving

We're both ~150 deep...which makes this spot slightly more interesting.

well he's calling w/ his entire non-bluffing range if you push.

I'm def at least calling. I think it's a push. This looks like "zomg i just hit trips!!"

whoah, i misread stack sizes thinking this was 1/2. makes this river much more difficult and makes raising kinda ugly.
i still like at least a call tho based on the fact that he only ch/called 2 streets

Yeah I figured w/ something better than Ax he's raising somewhere. I timed down and ended up shoving. He called fairly quickly w/ KQ. nh sir.

What? This is a great card. It's going to make villain even more confident with his Ax. Villain thinks there is no way hero has an ace if he has one and there are two on the board.

So you're saying checking behind on the turn is bad against this guy? I probably do it alot actually, especially if he likes checkraising.

no no i said checking this turn would be bad.

my point was that against a good opponent on this board, the best time to get one more street of value is the turn because this isn't a great board to induce bluffs from and there's like 8 million draws out there.

against this guy we can go for value on the river, against other people you would check behind the river, against someone who might check/raise with just a draw you could check, but this is a scary board for people to be taking shots with naked draws because it hits your range so well.

but anyway my point was just that betting this turn and folding the river isn't bad against some people.
