Diet Pepsi Max

I tried this out even before I had seen the not-that-funny commercials of everyone yawning except the one guy who was drinking this.

A couple gas-stations where I stopped off were selling this 'trial product' for $0.70 for a 20 oz bottle instead of the regular $1.20 or whatever for regular Diet Pepsi. Woo-hoo!!!

I usually drink regular Diet Pepsi but I think I'm sold on this Diet Pepsi Max stuff.
At first I thought it tasted a little 'funny' because I wasn't quite used to it. But after a couple sips I definitely decided I like the taste better and I've now been on it for a couple weeks.

Diet Pepsi Max is kind of the soda-pop's response to the popularity of energy drinks like Red Bull and RockStar I guess.
This drink has extra caffeine as well as ginseng and even the can looks more like an energy-drink design.

I'm pretty sure I'm a Diet Pepsi Max addict now.

Diet Coke has come up with their own response in the form of Diet Coke Plus. But I don't think this has extra caffeine. Just fortified with vitamins or something.
I'm not as keen on diet coke anyway but maybe I'll give the Diet Coke Plus a try just out of curiousity.

Anyway, are there any other Diet Pepsi Max fans out there?
I'm REALLY digging this beverage.

Re: Diet Pepsi Max

I like it. Just flavor wise it's nice.

Best energy drink by far is Rockstar Zero Carb though.

I tried something called Howling Monkey energy cola yesterday. It sounds like the same product, basically. I just can't drink that much of any energy drink (16 oz). I prefer Red Bull. Even though it's $2.50 a can, I like just having 7 oz or so...

Re: Diet Pepsi Max

Diet Coke Plus doesn't seem to even have that many vitamins...

"Each 8-ounce serving of Diet Coke Plus provides 15% of the daily value for niacin and vitamins B6 and B12, and 10% for zinc and magnesium. In fact the second main ingredient in diet coke plus is magnesium sulfate.[1]"

Is that really enough for people to care about?

i tried it and it tasted same as the rest.

Re: Diet Pepsi Max

It's the only soda I drink anymore, I absolutely am sold on it

It has 33% more caffeine than Diet Mountain Dew which was my previous mainstay

So... ya, I love it

Truth. Diet Coke Plus is OK, but I always lean to Diet Pepsi because it tastes more like real Pepsi - Diet Coke, wtf does it taste like?

Re: Diet Pepsi Max

Tastes better than regular Diet Pepsi but I didn't notice an increase in my energy after drinking one. I prefer the flavor of Coke Zero.

Re: Diet Pepsi Max

I don't care about the "energy" aspect of the drink. In fact, I'd much prefer it with less caffeine. The flavor, however, for a diet drink, is excellent.

Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper should be the standard here.

On my normal daily intake of diet soda, that would be 105% niacin, b6 and b12 and 70% zinc and magnesium. Still wouldn't switch from pepsi. Don't want to switch to pepsi max in case I like the taste. I would miss it when it is pulled off the shelves.

Re: Diet Pepsi Max

Nez - Didn't know it was that much more than Diet Mtn Dew.

First few I had I could DEFINITELY tell the difference in caffeine content though.
I still can if I've had a couple of them or I have one on an empty-stomach or something.
Definitely gets me wired.

Kipin - No I'm not sure at all.
I've never done any of the illegal stuff. But the way caffeine effects me (ummm, 26k chatterbox posts around here is just ONE example) I'm not entirely sure this stuff should be legal. At least not for me.
I'm definitely an addict. Get a couple of those bad-boys in me on the right day and WEEEEE-HOOOOOO LOOK OUT!!!

to be honest, I could do without all the extra caffeine also. Just enough to keep me going would be fine with me.
But the taste definitely is better.

I neglected to mention in my OP that I've only had a couple Red Bulls EVER and that was a couple years ago. I've never had a RockStar or any of the other 'energy' drinks.

diet pepsi max is the best tasting diet soft drink. but i've recently started drink diet rite instead. it tastes almost as good, has 0 calories, 0g sodium, and no caffeine, and it uses splenda instead of aspartame, which is great if you don't want cancer.

MicroBob 08-06-2007 06:36 PM

Re: Diet Pepsi Max

ryanj - sounds good...except I kind of NEED there to be some caffeine in it.
Drinking a soda without caffeine kind of defeats the purpose for me.

Immensly

Regular sodas are undrinkable to me with the exception of regular mountain dew

They are too heavy and too sweet for my liking

Emphasis on the heavy part... like it's not smooth going down or something, I don't know

I can't drink non-diet soda anymore

I don't drink any soda anymory myself. Still always found diet coke to be much more vile than regular coke but the general concensus seems to be that people actually enjoy the taste... interesting.

I've never heard of Pepsi Max.
When you say it's been around for 10 yrs I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

I used to drink regular coke. Then drank diet-coke for a little bit too. Then liked the taste of Pepsi better.
And now I vastly prefer the taste of Diet Pepsi (and more recently the taste of Diet Pepsi Max).
If I have a regular Pepsi now it tastes too heavy and too sweet. It's not that big a deal. But I definitely don't like it as much.

I had some Pepsi in Peru and I think they make it with a different formula in different countries. I liked the Pepsi down there much better for some reason.
I don't think Diet Pepsi was available but can't remember for sure.

I wonder if it's because of using real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.

There has been discussion about this in the past. I seem to remember somebody saying that you could find Coke and Pepsi made with real sugar during Passover. Might be able to get it in glass bottles with real sugar in Hispanic stores too.
