ONE MONTH OF NL POKER IN FLORIDA

So ... it's been about a month of NL cash games in Florida. For those in the state, how have the new stakes treated you?

I am up exactly $222 over six 2 hour sessions, way way better than the days of the $2 max bet. All of that is thanks to a $281 session win where I got two nits to call my push with aces.

I played today at The Isle in Pompano Park, and rumors are flying that the Indians will introduce Class III gaming (blackjack, roulette, craps, etc.) soon, along with the non-Indians expanding poker hours to 16 instead of 12. There was also a rumor of Tampa Hard Rock expanding its NL spreads and limits this week. That's all I know.

Down .........and it's embarrassing.

Running bad........and probably worse than ANYONE at Derby Lane.

Getting hit over the head time and time and time again.

Fishhead.....

Take a road trip over to the East Coast of FL... maybe you just need a venue change....

Come see what the rooms over this side of the state look like...Isle Pompano Park is a nice room for sure, as I'm sure Dozer would agree..

Palm Beach Kennel Club is not bad either..

Hope you start running better...

BTW... -$150 for 22 Hours...

Re: ONE MONTH OF NL POKER IN FLORIDA

I'm about even maybe down 1 buyin or so playing about 15 hours total. Been running terribly the last few sessions but I also think I should play more aggressive to try and build a stack since playing with $100 is pretty bad. Should turn around soon hopefully.

You don't need a real "Bankroll" this game is way fishier than 1/2nl

Table selection, some bad play and one day of silly beats.

It's difficult for me to adjust play for tables where it's nearly 50-50 sharks and fish. I need to tighten up a bit and wait for the fish and stay away a bit from the other sharks.

Daytona is still the worst run poker room in the eastern part of...the Galaxy. I've been quiet where I wasn't in the hand but when you have a couple showing each other their cards; have guys bet everyone else off the hand then tell each other they want to check it down after the flop over and over again ect....will the dealer ever say ANYTHING? I'll only be there another two weeks.

Play @ Naples fort myers dog track
Up 694 dollars for July.
Crazy player E.G. UTG I raise to 30 dollars (I know terrible) got 2 callers. Shoved on flop they both folded.
I had AA
Very loose players-- They call and give the people behind them the right price to call. I am tighter than a tick. If they go to time rack I will be in trouble. Dealers tell me stories about $3200 pots on Sundat night. 7 allin after the flop. Yikes ' How about this one--Utg ( A 10 suited)raises to $ 10 reraise to 40 by cut off( AK off) rereraise by SB allin $270.00 (AA) they both call. Fun @ the track LOL

I'm at 201 hours thus far........up $56.

Derby Lane is the only venue that I'm losing at, and losing bigtime there.

Off to Tampa Greyhound this morning.

Wow. I recall people licking their chops when the legislation came through believing they were going to get rich pillaging the Florida Fish. Guess that hasn't happened?

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing ... though there are plenty of people who posted who are up after a month.

I have noticed a change in tables since July 1 ... on July 1, the game was much looser and the old farts were limping and calling $12 raises with Kx sooted. Now they're slowing down and the game is getting tighter. So I'd say some of the old skool fish are starting to adjust. But that's only going to make me more aggressive.

I'm +288 in four sessions (~18 hrs total). Fishhead, I sat on your left one afternoon for a few hours. You were winning that day as I recall.
Edit: At Derby Lane.

Here's my stats at the Jax Best Bet:

w/l (hrs played)

NLHE:
+110 (7)
-280 (7)
-40 (7)
-200 (4)
+190 (3)
+170 (2.5)
+220 (4)
+200 (4)

5/5 LHE:
+310 (4)
+8 (3)

Overall:
+688 (45.5)

I started running pretty poor as the results show but suddenly I am running pretty hot. I posted in the Limit -> NL forum about what strategies would work best in these kinds of games and the advice I was given has worked pretty damn well (I've used it in my last 3 sessions).

I agree with earlier posters about the Daytona room. It's crap. I was there for a tennis tournament last month and wanted to check it out. That place is garbage. $1 to get in? LOL. Jax Best Bet looks like the Bellagio compared to Daytona.

$84/hour before tonite. Got stacked twice; called once on a bluff and sucked out on. Still, I think I'm still about $60/hour so variance and all that $hit.

They have started......believe they are doing 1-2 a day.

Not a satelite player myself and thus put my $50 deposit down for the September 30th tourney. There are less than 200 seats available as of last evening as the tourney is limited to 500 and 100+ are coming from the jackpot winners and satelite winners..........plus they have had sponsors gobble up 100+ allready. If one is planning to play in this tourney with $250,000 purse, they should enter this week and submit their $50 deposit. If you hit a jackpot high hand, your deposit is refundable.

They have, but they are now very close to becoming reality. The federal government gave Crist's office 60 days (at the end of June) to work out a deal with the Seminoles or they said they would decide the case. The Seminoles sued the state to allow Class III gaming once Broward county started allowing Class III slot machines in the horse tracks.

The Seminoles told the Governor's office that if they work out a deal to allow all Class III gaming (Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Full Poker, Slots, etc.) then the state could share in the revenue. If the state doesn't reach a deal with them, they will most likely get Class III slots at a minimum with full Class III gaming being a possibility.

Hopefully Crist sees that this would be a great source of additional revenue for a state with no state income tax.

Been doing good playing a couple afternoons each week at Pompano and late nights at Coco Mojo where the room is not the best but the $ is very nice. Don't have the bankroll yet for 2/5 but soon I will, I believe the game is very beatable after watching it quite a bit. Build the stack then play some poker. Re: ONE MONTH OF NL POKER IN FLORIDA

My dad lives down there so I have played at the Hard Rock in Hollywood and Mardi Gras. The $2 maximum bet rule was a joke, it wasn't even poker. With the rake the game was unbeatable. What exactly are the rules for this NL game? I know you can only sit down with $100, but lets say I get down to $50 can I buy in only another $50 or a full buy in of another $100?

With the terrible players I'm confident that the 2/5 game they offer is very beatable now. I have never seen such bad players before in my life in Florida.

Re: ONE MONTH OF NL POKER IN FLORIDA

Played in the Hollywood Hard Rock 5/10 100 NL a few nights ago and it was insane. Full table and the common phrase was"I came to gamble". Saw six people all in at the same time numerous times. 6-700 pots being raked regularly. No limping at all.
It was the by far the craziest table I have ever encountered.
